Prismatic Psychiatry

Prismatic Psychiatry is a virtual mental health practice providing affirming, collaborative, and evidence-based psychiatric care. We believe treatment should honor your neurotype, identity, lived experience, and goals—not ask you to mask, minimize, or become someone else. Our services include psychiatric evaluation, medication management, psychotherapy, and ADHD and autism assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. We take a whole-person approach, recognizing that mental health is shaped by relationships, trauma, medical experiences, disability, identity, environment, values, and community. Led by Dr. Meriah Ward, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, Prismatic Psychiatry offers neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and LGBTQIA+-inclusive care. Dr. Ward supports clients experiencing ADHD, autism, anxiety, ARFID, OCD, trauma, dissociation, mood concerns, personality-related challenges, chronic illness and disability stress, sleep difficulties, emotional regulation concerns, and identity exploration. Treatment may include CBT-I, TF-CBT, DBT, ERP, CBT-AR, psychodynamic therapy, Good Psychiatric Management, medication management, and individualized recommendations for accommodations and support. Leah Cook, MSN, PMHNP-BC, also provides compassionate, whole-person telehealth care in North Carolina and Virginia. Her specialties include anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, substance-use concerns and dual diagnoses, addiction treatment including MOUD, and borderline personality disorder. Her approach integrates harm reduction, nervous-system regulation, trauma-informed care, TF-CBT, General Psychiatric Management, and DBT-SUD. Prismatic Psychiatry is committed to care that is transparent, practical, and collaborative. We work with clients to understand what is happening, identify meaningful goals, and create treatment plans that fit real life. We welcome clients who are neurodivergent, queer, questioning, disabled, chronically ill, recovering from trauma, navigating substance use, or simply seeking a provider who will listen without judgment.

She was very personable while being very well informed concerning my visit. I could tell that she was very intelligent but not in any way condescending. She helped me understand without making me feel stupid. I wish all providers were as good as She was.

Dr. Ward is very understanding about depression, ADHD and autism and has in-depth personal and professional experiences with these topics. I felt like they took me seriously and actively listened to my problems and asked me questions to get a thorough picture of everything I've been going through. They prescribed appropriate treatment regimens and followed up with me to see what was/wasn't working and adjusted medications based on that information. My quality of life improved greatly under Dr. Ward's care.

Very attentive and goes above and beyond the call of duty. They listened to my needs and responded with excellent care. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a new provider!

Dr. Ward is incredibly thorough and takes the time to really listen. From the start, I felt like my concerns were heard and understood, and they didn’t just give me a quick answer or rush through the visit. Instead, they thoughtfully considered different options and were willing to think outside the box to find solutions that truly fit my situation. They’re also very approachable and easy to get in touch with, which makes such a difference. I left my appointment feeling cared for, confident in the plan we discussed, and grateful to have found a doctor who is both committed and compassionate.
