QH Shanti Therapy- Raisa Hasan, LCSW

Hi, I’m Raisa, an LCSW and VCU graduate, offering warm, humanistic, virtual-only psychotherapy grounded in evidence-based practice and deep respect for each person’s unique lived experience. My work is informed by the belief that psychological well-being emerges not only from symptom reduction, but also from greater self-understanding, psychological flexibility, and alignment with one’s values. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness-based approaches developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and principles that inform Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). While CBT explores how patterns of thought, emotion, and behavior shape experience, mindfulness-based approaches cultivate a different relationship to those experiences—one characterized by awareness, acceptance, and nonjudgmental observation rather than automatic reaction. SFBT complements this work by emphasizing strengths, resilience, and the possibility of meaningful change, helping clients identify what is already working and build upon existing resources. My practice is particularly focused on anxiety, depression, grief, identity development, and major life transitions, including career changes, relationship shifts, caregiving challenges, and medical diagnoses. Rather than viewing distress solely as a problem to eliminate, I approach it as information—often signaling unmet needs, unresolved losses, internal conflicts, or opportunities for growth and adaptation. Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and practical. Together, we will examine the narratives, beliefs, and patterns that shape your experience while developing skills that support greater emotional regulation, self-compassion, and intentional living. My goal is to help you cultivate a more grounded relationship with yourself and your circumstances so that you can move through life’s challenges with greater clarity, resilience, and peace.
