Rapps Psychiatry
Welcome to Rapps Psychiatry.
I provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults. My practice has particular expertise in the evaluation and treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, and depression, while also treating a wide range of anxiety, mood, and related psychiatric conditions.
I believe that effective psychiatric care begins with understanding each person’s unique experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I work collaboratively with patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects their specific needs and preferences.
Medication can be an important part of treatment, but I believe it should be prescribed thoughtfully and only when it is clinically indicated, such as when symptoms are significantly impairing or when therapy alone has not provided adequate relief. When medication is appropriate, I take the time to discuss the expected benefits, potential side effects, and available alternatives so that patients can make informed decisions about their care.
I place a strong emphasis on collaboration with therapists, pediatricians, primary care physicians, and other healthcare professionals. Coordinated communication often leads to better outcomes, and I welcome referrals from therapists and other healthcare professionals, maintaining clear communication and coordinated care throughout treatment whenever possible.
I completed my psychiatry residency at Community Memorial Healthcare in Ventura, California, followed by fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. This advanced training allows me to care for children, adolescents, and adults across a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
Appointments are available both in person and via telehealth. I have offices on Long Island, New York, and in Teaneck, New Jersey, and provide telehealth services to patients located in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and California.
Above all, my goal is to provide thoughtful, evidence-based care in an environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in treatment. I strive to help each person achieve meaningful, lasting improvements in their mental health and overall quality of life.

Dr. Rapps is an exceptional doctor.
He’s incredibly smart, knowledgeable, and attentive. He listens carefully, never rushes, and always makes sure you’re comfortable with your treatment. He doesn’t push medication - instead, he checks how you’re feeling and makes thoughtful adjustments. When I had headaches from my meds, he suggested drinking more water - a simple tip that made a big difference.
As an older college student, I appreciate that he checks how treatment affects my daily life and studies. He also listens to personal concerns with empathy, never judgment. That’s what I mean by outstanding bedside manner - he treats you like a whole person, not just a patient.
Dr. Rapps is also great with communication. He sends email reminders and calls if you miss an appointment, showing he really cares. I’m grateful for his care and highly recommend him.
