We have a lot in common otherwise as well so when talking about tv shows or books we share laughs and understand each other better through more than just therapy.

I saw Cynthia 3-4 times. General lack of empathy and warmth, and seems not to care about what’s going on in your life. Since I hadn’t made progress on my severe depression (complicated by PTSD, ADHD, and health problems) in the span of a few weeks, she dropped me. In our last session I’d had a horrible week, and instead of empathizing and helping me work through that, she stopped mid-session, told me she’s terminating our therapy due to lack of progress, and that I should find another therapist. I wasn’t rude, just described my week and my failures, which I was already embarrassed about, as well as a short list of concrete things I’d like to work on over the next week. And one of the things I told her was that my boyfriend’s dad nearly died and is fighting for his life after emergency heart surgery and a blood infection! How she feels terminating therapy was an appropriate response to all that blows my mind. No wonder she has so much availability.

On my first appointment, she set very clear expectations on what I can expect from our future appointments. She was very kind and listened to everything I had to say and was very responsive to my concerns. She was also very detailed in her explanations of the tools she uses, how working with the company she’s under is going to be for me in terms of booking appointments, and of her experience. Overall, very good first impression!
