Dr. Schafer was great and helped me with pain I was experiencing while running.

I went to Philippe for help with jaw clicking due to TMJ and have seen a huge difference within a few weeks following the mix of hands on therapy and recommended exercises he provided. He has an excellent bedside manner, is highly knowledgeable and his sessions feel much more thorough and attentive than one you would receive in a larger practice - will return to him for any PT needs in the future. Location is also super convenient if on a subway line running through union square station!

I came to Philippe after pulling my back so badly I could barely move. He quickly understood what was going on, spotted other issues—like how tight my neck was—and got to work.
By the end of the session, my back pain was almost completely gone, despite being told elsewhere I’d be “out for at least five days.” Even more impressive, after treating my neck, the daily headaches I’d been having disappeared and haven’t returned.
He finished by checking my whole body and easing stiffness I didn’t even realize I had.
I’ll definitely be seeing Philippe regularly—his care has already made a huge difference.

After a nerve-related injury affected my hip, foot, and overall athletic performance, I started working with Philippe. He took the time to understand not just the injury, but the underlying cause. His programming and hands-on work accelerated my recovery and helped me return stronger, with better movement quality than before. Highly recommend.

I can’t recommend Philip enough! He’s incredibly patient, truly listens, and takes the time to understand what’s going on before jumping into any treatment. What really sets him apart is the follow-up; he checks in between sessions to see how I’m doing and whether the exercises are actually helping. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients’ progress and well-being. A rare find in the world of physical therapy.
