If you're looking for a therapist for your chid, this isn't it. We've waited for as long as an hour and 15 minutes to start. Appointments have been rescheduled without consent. She's a poor listener and always has something she would much rather be doing going on in almost every session (texting, paying attention to her surroundings and not the patient/myself in front of her; driving her car; etc.). She doesn't give sound advice even when she does listen. My daughter has been seeing her since July 2024 and she's only been completely invested in maybe all of two sessions. The main advice she gives is "just monitor her behavior," and whenever we have a follow-up session, she's either texting and looking around the room she's in or she says "monitor her". I really had hope when selecting her, especially because she's a Black woman in a really important field... but she does nothing for my daughter and nothing for me. She's really taking clients just for the check. She doesn't care at all.

I felt like I was spilling my guts, and she was like,' Oh, OK, that's crazy ' no real eye contact, she didn't ask me any questions she was distracted on the computer or something. But she wasn't paying attention to me too much... it just felt like I wasted an hr with a stranger

I had a great experience with Chiamaka and Serenity Wellness Mental Health. She openly listened to my conncerns and took her time in doing my work-up. She was also very transparent throughout the process, which was much appreciated. Everything was done in a professional and organized manner as well.

This provider basically accused me of lying about what medications I had previously taken. Now I understand that some of my medications were substances that had a chance to be severely misused, but to essentially accuse a patient of lying simply because you didn’t look at your records right is so demoralizing and disheartening. After the appointment, I found that the medication she begrudgingly prescribed me (even though I was literally prescribed the same one by another psychiatrist before and only stopped taking bc I had no access to health insurance) was on back order at all pharmacies in my state. I tried to make another appointment with her to discuss other options. Instead she canceled the appointment immediately with no reason as to why. Now don’t get me wrong, she’s kind of nice I guess, but I will never be seeing her again. She doesn’t listen, nor does she care. But that’s proving to be the prevailing attitude amongst psychiatrists these days anyway.
