Our practice operates on the clinical philosophy of Ideal Dentistry, where we believe in a foundation first approach focused on long term health, structural integrity, and aesthetic harmony. Properly restoring a smile is an engineering marvel, and by capturing your unique biology and jaw movements, we engineer restorations that stabilize your oral health and stop the breakdown of your teeth. My default is always to do the harder right over the easier wrong, and every single decision we make in our practice is to help provide the highest quality of care possible. Because we are a fee for service practice, we do not treat patients based on the restrictive policies of insurance plans. Instead, an unparalleled patient experience is our top priority. Many of our patients come to us after years of patchwork dentistry or unclear guidance, and finally feel like they have found a place that truly prioritizes their long term oral health. To achieve this, I spend two to three times more time with each patient than the average dentist, guiding them through a highly educational and diagnostic process. We dedicate ninety minutes specifically for your initial comprehensive exam to thoroughly educate you and empower you to make proactive treatment choices. With an advanced focus in prosthetics and full mouth reconstructions, I am able to treat even the most complex cases with precision and care. Our restorations often outperform the typical standard by two to three times, helping patients avoid unnecessary replacement treatments, root canals, extractions, or complex surgeries. At Slate Dental, every detail matters and I personally take full responsibility for ensuring things are done right. Dr. John Slate earned his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Florida before completing his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Nova Southeastern University. Each year, dental professionals are surveyed to determine the absolute best practitioners in our community, and Dr. Slate is consistently voted to the top of his class by his peers, including multi year recognition as a Washingtonian Top Dentist and a Bethesda Magazine Top Dentist. This level of high end dentistry requires a delicate balance of artistry and mechanics.
