Everything was going smoothly until the receptionist approached me after my X-rays to deliver some shocking news: my insurance was out of network, and I owed over a substantial out of pocket fee for my cleaning.
Just as the dentist was about to begin the procedure, I stood up—bib still on—and walked to the front desk. The same staff member then informed me I was being "held" and needed to pay a certain amount for the visit. Since I didn’t have the money, I jokingly offered to mop the floors just to cover the cost.
Despite Zocdoc confirming my insurance was in-network, the office claimed I wasn't covered because I lacked a 100% military disability rating. The entire situation was incredibly embarrassing and frustrating. It was, without a question, the worst dental experience I’ve ever had.
