Sutter Place Dental Group was orginally founded in 1982 by Dr. Henry Lucas. Orginally located on Sutter St. in San Francisco, the practice has since moved to the Mission District and is now run by Dr. Nathaniel Minami. Sutter Place Dental is a practice where the patients needs and best interests come first, we strive to keep them as comfortable as possible during our procedures regardless of how invasive.

Dr. Minami’s dentist assistant saw me immediately after I finished the intake paperwork and took X-rays. Then once those were done Dr. Minami cleaned my teeth explaining everything he was doing and why. I’ve never had a dentist actually explain the science/medical reasons behind what they’re doing and it was not only very interesting, but helpful to understanding why it’s important to visit and how best to take care of your teeth at home. He and his dentist assistant were super nice and the office just had an approachable and happy vibe. Best dentist experience I’ve ever had!

Came for my first appointment in a while. Everyone in the office was super friendly and approachable. The office was very clean and covid-safe. I felt very valued and cared for during my entire visit. Leilani the hygienist was lovely, as was the woman (who's name I can't remember) that took my x-rays, and the admin, Jenny. And Dr. Minami was lovely and friendly as well. Great overall experience.

Dr. Minami is the best dentist I’ve come across. I’ve had some terrible experiences in the past with other dentist that stop me from going to the dentist for years. I gave him a try and I have never regretted it. His staff are also amazing.

I wasn’t sure if i should have written a comment since I don’t want to have a harder time to find available appt at Dr Nathans office but he really deserves it! I had a trauma from my last dentist experience and havent been to dentist for 12 years. But his professional and gentle attitude and super nice office crew totally changed that. I do strongly recommend him! Such good experience.

I went in for a cleaning after not having one for a couple of years. Dr. Minami didn’t make me feel bad about this at all, and explained everything he was doing and the reason behind it which made me feel at ease. My teeth look and feel amazing and I am sure I will actually go back for regular cleanings to him.

Dr. Minami is very kind, skilled, and personable - He immediately make me feel comfortable, shared more knowledge about what he was doing and why it mattered, and spoke to me as a real human and not just an insurance card. All of his staff were friendly and helpful. This is the best dentist I've had in many many years and I highly recommend visiting him and his team!

Having recently moved to SF, I spent some time searching for a new dental practice. I am so happy I found Dr. Minami -- both he and his staff were kind, friendly, professional, and prompt. I was seen exactly at my appointment time, and Dr. Minami took the time to explain things every step of the way. Really delightful dentist and staff. Nate is charming, kind, and competent. he did the cleaning himself, and he explained a lot of what he was doing while he did it. He was careful to not cause too much pain, too.
His staff, Robert and Jasmine, are also very kind and professional.
insurance process was seamless as it was all through zocdoc.
No complaints yet. i'll be back for a filling in a couple weeks.

I never thought going to the dentist could be a pleasant experience, but Dr. Minami proved me wrong. His staff were stuck in traffic so he had to do everything himself. But he handled the challenge deftly and cheerfully. He also explained the dentistry principles behind each step of the process. I thought I already knew everything about the routine, but his explanations taught me a bunch new and useful things.

I think Dr. Minami is wonderful! I have been a patient of his for over 10 years and followed him from San Jose to Sutter Place Dental. He has a great chairside manner as he is pleasant, approachable and even makes me laugh (hard to do with your mouth open!). He does not rush and is great about explaining everything he is doing. I have sensitive gums so I am thankful he has gentle hands. He has a professional and warm staff that make me feel comfortable. He is the best and I will not let any other dentist touch my teeth!
