My husband and I had been seeing this therapist for two months, and we saw some improvement in our relationship. On the 6th session, after discussing how things had been going well, one of our persistent issues came up and I said something harsh about my husband. Tzvi was taken aback and said that with my husband and I having been together 20 years, "I don't know how you're still together."
We sought out couples counseling for a reason, and that was an incredibly unprofessional thing to say. He knew it, as he started apologizing and trying to backtrack the statement. We will not be returning, and I hope he realizes he should not say something so damaging to patients seeking help.
