THOMAS MAHER NURSE PRACTITIONER IN PSYCHIATRY PC
Great to meet you!
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with experience in outpatient, inpatient, and crisis psychiatry, working with both adolescents and adults. I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management for concerns including ADHD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative, and I take the time to understand each person beyond their symptoms or diagnosis. Together, we’ll develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you and your life.
My approach to therapy
I believe good psychiatric care starts with taking the time to understand you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis or list of symptoms. My approach is collaborative and practical—we’ll talk through your concerns, what may be contributing to them, and what you hope to get out of treatment. When medication is appropriate, I’ll explain the options and work with you to find a plan that feels comfortable, realistic, and effective. I also believe in looking beyond medication and considering the other parts of life that can influence mental health and well-being.
What you can expect from me
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and develop a clear understanding of what brings you to treatment. We’ll talk about your current concerns, your history, what’s going on in your life, and what you hope to improve. I aim to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you can ask questions and be an active part of decisions about your care. By the end of the visit, we’ll discuss my recommendations and work together on a plan for next steps.
