Tom Christensen, LCSW
Whether you’re entering therapy for the first time or looking to start anew, I seek to create a safe and nonjudgemental environment where we can explore your current challenges and find realistic, lasting solutions. I believe the therapeutic alliance is the cornerstone of effective treatment and strive to create an authentic rapport rooted in empathy and trust. I have experience working with individuals impacted by anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and other life stressors, including current events, work, and relationships. I am also very passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ community and with individuals in recovery.
I employ a strengths-based, person-centered approach that integrates evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing, when fitting. My practice also utilizes an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed lens that emphasizes autonomy, empowerment, and respect.
Therapy can spark confidence, hope, and change. It can also elicit discomfort and confusion. My goal is to turn these moments, the "good" and the "not-so-good", into opportunities for self-reflection, acceptance, and growth. I look forward to discussing your goals and how I can help you achieve them.
