Whether you are visiting us for a diagnostic evaluation for an eye or vision problem, such as cataracts, glaucoma, or an eyelid concern, Dr. Benson Chen provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care. He and our experienced team are here to guide you every step of the way in understanding and treating your eye condition.
Dr. Chen is an ophthalmologist who offers both medical and surgical services, including cataract surgery, eyelid (ptosis and blepharoplasty) procedures, and glaucoma management. Using the latest diagnostic technology, we begin each visit with a thorough review of your symptoms, medical history, and family history to provide a complete picture of your eye health.
Please note: Dr. Chen does not perform routine vision or contact lens exams and is not contracted with any vision insurance plans. If desired, a glasses prescription may be provided during a medical visit, and patients are welcome to self-submit to their vision plans for reimbursement.

Excellent experience. The staff and Doctor went out of their way to accommodate me when I had a time sensitive issue. Not just one of them, but everyone I had contact with. Dr. Chen's expertise was not only evident, but comforting. I'm so grateful to have found them.

He was kind, professional, and took the time to listen carefully to my symptoms and concerns. He explained what was likely causing the dryness in a clear, reassuring way and gave me a practical treatment plan I could follow right away. The office ran smoothly, and I felt well cared for from start to finish. The entire team was friendly, courteous and caring. I highly recommend Dr. Benson to anyone looking for a thorough and compassionate ophthalmologist.

I arrived at the hospital on time but had to wait over an hour to see the doctor. Both the doctor and his assistant were extremely impatient and barely interacted with me throughout the appointment. They did not clearly explain my condition, and the visit ended abruptly without even asking if I had any questions. The doctor just walked out in a rush. I still have no idea what’s wrong with my eye. I would not recommend this clinic and will not be returning.

The initial exam was the most thorough and complete. The result were were explained. Dr. Chen's review of the issues involved with lens replacement was very thorough and understandable. It was essential good decision-making for choosing the best lens.

He was very honest. He said that if nothing seems wrong, I wouldn't need another general eye exam for another few years. I love it when doctors aren't pushy and aren't just out for your money. The only thing is that they don't do exams for contacts.

Dr. Chen was absolutely amazing. I was very nervous about the changes I'm experiencing in my vision. Dr. Chen put me at ease right away, he was kind and really seemed to care about my concerns and in helping me get better. He is very knowledgable and professional but seemed like a very down to earth kind of person. I am under a lot of financial stress right now and he personally made sure my insurance company would authorize future treatments. I loved his staff too!

Very professional and calm. I had an eye emergency that eventually would need surgery. When you walk into a medical office because you're suddenly blind in one eye, you need a calm presence to keep you from panicking. Dr. Chen was the right choice for me. Highly recommend. Even though I was a brand new patient I was able to get in the same day (a Monday) and was able to fill out all of the forms online ahead of time. Easy to find office with free parking right by Factoria shopping center (so you can send your spouse there).
The support staff was friendly and efficient and they had educational videos in the waiting room. The eye tech was very skilled, through and and friendly and put me at ease.
Dr Chen is highly qualified and personable and informed of the reason for each test and the results and gave me a good plan for next steps and what to watch out for. Would have loved my own copy of my eye but forgot to ask.

One of the most thorough optometry appointments I have ever had. It is nice to see that in the world of insurance companies running our medical system there is still one doctor who takes the time to do a great job.

It was great. The staff were pleasant and professional. Had one moment of angst when the technician said, "I would normally dialate your eyes right now but I am going to wait to let the doctor do that." When I asked why, she said, "I have a little concern that I will leave for him to explain." Just saying, don't bring it up if you aren't going to explain. Gave me 10 minutes of stress I didn't need. I explained it to the doctor and he thanked me for the feedback. Overall a very positive experience.

As always our visit was excellent. Dr. Chen came highly recommended by our family doctor at Swedish a few years back when my husband needed cataract surgery. He did such a great job that our whole family has been seeing him since. It is a given that he is an excellent surgeon but we also appreciate that with his calm, laid back demeanor he takes the time to explain things out to us.
