We are excited about two new groups that we are starting in early 2025:
Social Anxiety Group
Do you react to social situations by becoming anxious? Are you highly self-conscious? Do you shrink away from being the center of attention? Do you feel other people view you negatively and are somehow judging you? Does the thought of making a public presentation cause high amounts of anxiety? Do you get anxious anticipating what you might have to do in the future? Do you feel you don't know how to mingle or have the right things to say? After you've done something, do you worry excessively about your performance and re-play it over and over again in your head? Do you beat yourself up by comparing yourself to other people? Does this happen to you every day?
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is the only type of therapy proven, through research and clinical evidence, to be effective in permanently allowing people to overcome social anxiety. CBT for social anxiety must be comprehensive, covering all aspects of social anxiety.
We will have a group of 6-8 people who have social anxiety in a supporting environment. It will consist of learning different strategies to overcome social anxiety. Some of the techniques that will be used are: slow talk, stopping automatic negative thoughts (ANTS), self-acceptance, rational self-talk, loosening up, focusing externally, and letting go of the past.
The therapy itself is not difficult, but you must be consistent and persistent in practicing it for it to reduce anxiety and help overcome social anxiety. Rationally reprogramming the brain takes time.
After learning different strategies in the group, you will be asked to do experiments on your own to help reduce feeling anxious in public. Some of these experiments are: approaching and starting conversations with strangers, speaking in front of a group in such places as Toastmasters, singing karaoke in public, and going to Meetup parties. We will talk about our individual successes in the group and support each other to keep going.
Men’s Group
In this day and age, it can be difficult just being a man. Having a group of men who are looking to improve themselves can be good to foster growth, learn more about yourself, and have a solid support system.
In our weekly men’s group, we will discuss such topics as communication, emotions, boundaries, health, relationships, and others. We will learn from each other by hearing each other’s unique experiences and what has been useful to every member.
Everyone in the group will be given an equal opportunity to speak and share their stories. We have complete confidentiality and are non-judgmental. We will build a community where everyone is in total support of one another.

• Improving mental health
• Building trust
• Clarifying purpose and direction
• Supporting each other
• Communicating thoughts and feelings

Every time I go to my therapy sessions with Lauren I am always excited to speak with her and tell her how I feel and what I am going through!
