She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University, a Bachelor’s in Public Health Education from UNC Greensboro and an Associate's Degree in Nursing from AB Tech. She has lived in WNC for over 20 years and has spent time living and working in healthcare in the southwest, the Bay Area, Philly and Guatemala. She has had the privilege of experiencing a multitude of settings including FQHCs, nurse-managed health centers, free clinics, rural pop-ups, street medicine collectives and non-profit and corporate hospital systems. She currently delivers continuing education and supports program development for community health workers in Buncombe County. In addition to wound care, Shannon has a passion for rural healthcare, healthy aging, adolescent medicine, health equity, sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction, street medicine and LGBTQ+ health. Her practice is integrative and trauma-informed. She engages her family medicine and nursing backgrounds in her approach to advanced wound management and uses evidence-based practice and a multidisciplinary approach to address the root causes of complex wounds.
