Dr. Alejandra Flores Arellano—or Dr. Flores for short—was born and raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico, which is where she first graduated from dental school back in 2015. After a year-long residency at a public hospital in Mexico, she moved to the United States and secured admission to the International Dentist Program of the State University of New York at Buffalo, a highly competitive program that accepts less than five percent of applicants each year. In 2019, she graduated from that institution with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
After working briefly in private practice, Dr. Flores felt called to public service and transitioned into the world of public health. She began working as a dentist at a federally qualified health center in the Lower Valley right here in El Paso, and within just a few months was promoted to the role of dental director, leading the clinic’s entire dental department. After a few years, she transitioned to a similar role within a larger, non-profit health system in southern New Mexico. Now, with more than a half decade of professional experience under her belt, Dr. Flores has decided to take the leap into practice ownership by opening Prickly Pear Dental Care. She is genuinely excited to offer the highest-quality care available to patients from across the Paso del Norte region, always accompanied by levels of compassion, respect, and integrity that set her apart in the dental field.
Dr. Flores is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the El Paso District Dental Society. She keeps up with the evolving nature of dentistry by taking continuing-education courses above and beyond those required for licensure. She has participated in a variety of community service projects as close to home as right here in El Paso and as far away as Middle Tennessee and the highlands of Guatemala.
