I was pretty nervous about my son's reaction to his first dentist visit, but the entire staff was encouraging and attentive from the moment we walked in the door. It's very clear that they all love and care about children.
The waiting room is a paradise for kids (and therefore parents!) so it makes for a good start to the visit. I was very impressed with Cherelle during the cleaning and exam keeping my son both interested in what was happening but also engaged. Dr. Khare also had a wonderful bedside manner and was very knowledgeable. I would certainly recommend this practice based on our first visit, and I'm thankful we found it!

Dr. Angela Austin is a board-certified pediatric dentist and the founder of Alexandria Children's Dentistry.
She earned her dental degree in 2004 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. While in dental school, Dr. Angela served as Vice President of the Student National Dental Association, was co-editor of the Penn Dental Journal, and participated in various community service efforts in local Philadelphia schools. Dr. Angela was selected to be a National Health Service Corps scholar, and she later served two years providing dental care in a dentally underserved community.
Following dental school, Dr. Angela completed an additional two years of training to become a pediatric dental specialist at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC.
While there, she gained a great deal of experience in craniofacial anomalies; comprehensive treatment of patients with special needs such as autism and cerebral palsy; interceptive orthodontics; trauma management; sedation dentistry; and dentistry under general anesthesia. As Chief Resident, Dr. Angela completed an externship in Honduras providing dental care in an orphanage. This experience motivated her to be a long-term godparent for a child in the orphanage.
Dr. Angela proudly practices as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
The mission statement of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry states: “The ABPD certifies pediatric dentists based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents, and patients with special healthcare needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a pediatric dentist has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills, and experience requisite to the delivery of quality patient care.”

Everyone is very friendly and wonderful with children and the parents.
My son used to cry the moment we said doctors and dentist but from his second visit itself he stopped throwing any kind of trantrum or fuss. He is happy to go for his visits. Thank you for a wonderful service !!

The atmosphere is youth friendly. Staff is supper nice and understands how to work with children. I could not have been happier with Dr. Coates. My child was in GREAT hands!!!

My son will be two in a few weeks and this was his first dental appointment. He is very shy but the Dr. and hygienist did a great job working with his personality. The office is super kid friendly and the Daniel Tiger on the tv (above dental chair) was a big bonus.

gteat staff. My husband was confused about the fluoride treatments and what was covered. The staff waived the fee although it was CLEARLY our confusion. Thank you all for going above and beyond in customer service!

Alexandria Children's Dentistry is the best! When we were searching for a Children's dentist, their credentials stood out amongst the many qualified dentists in the area. Once we experienced their care we realized that they are much more than their online credentials could describe! They are professional, courteous and patient. They also have a knack for keeping children calm. I would (and have) recommend them to anyone!
By the way, we drive 45 minutes from Bowie, Maryland to come here.
