Voted "America's Top Dentist" by Consumers' Research Council of America (2007), Dr. Cacioppo attended an undergraduate pre-dental program at St. John's University in NY and graduated from Georgetown University Dental School in Washington D.C. in 1968. After two years in the US Navy, Dr. Cacioppo began his private practice and a long, distinguished professional career. His career has been very diverse encompassing roles and experiences in dental leadership, professional dental licensure/regulation, dental education, and professional recognition. Dr. Cacioppo's early leadership positions stemmed from his membership in the Queens County Dental Society, where he chaired several committees, served on the Board of trustees, and as a dental society spokesperson. This led to a position as a councilman on the New York State Committee concerned with Dental Trade and Laboratory Relations. Next, Dr. Cacioppo served as a consultant and member of several Kellogg Foundation committees concerning dental quality control. The recognition of his leadership skills culminated with his election as President of the Queens Branch of the Academy of General Dentistry.
