Dr. Graciela Shimizu loves all aspects of Dentistry. She is a IUPUI trained Prosthodontist who specializes in advanced cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, crown and bridges, removable partial dentures, complete dentures, as well as full mouth reconstruction. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S) in 2000 and then pursued a three-year speciality prosthodontics program at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, followed by a Masters of Science in Dentistry (M.S.D) also at Indiana University. She graduated at the top of her class. Dr. Shimizu was the winner of the John F Johnston Society Scholarship Award for Academic Achievement, Technical and Clinical Excellence in 2009 and 2010. She practiced as an associate Prosthodontist in multiple dental offices in the Bay Area before founding Menlo Park Smile Design in 2013. Having her own boutique dental office allows Dr. Shimizu to focus on high quality dental work in an environment where patients are treated as family.

Within the first half hour of my appt for a new set of an upper dentures, I knew I was in the care of an amazing specialist. She not only has very specialized training, she is an artist in making beautiful teeth to make a beautiful smile. She takes great care and lots of time to make sure the fit is perfect, the teeth are the right size and color, and every nuance of each tooth is just right.
I have the most beautiful and comfortable upper denture I could have ever hoped for! I was in an unusual predicament and they needed to done in a short period of time as I live way across the state and my teeth had been lost at the skilled nursing facility where I was recuperating from back surgery. She even saw me on a Saturday for one set of impressions. She went out of her way to make sure I had my teeth in a very timely manner I cannot recommend Dr. Shimizu highly enough!

My experience at Menlo Park Smile Design was the best. The customer service provided was great. The place looks new and impeccably clean. As soon as I came in the office I felt welcomed. The receptionist greeted me and immediately offered something to drink from their minibar in the waiting lobby. Dr. Shimizu was waiting for me so I was helped right away, which is really amazing and a first time experience for me at a dentist’s office. Dr. Shimizu made sure I felt comfortable on the chair, asked if the temperature of the room was OK and even asked me if I needed an aromatherapy pillow. I liked the fact that Dr. Shimizu explained everything I needed to know and answered all my questions without being even a little annoyed. You can tell this place is really concerned about making you feel welcomed and pleased. Dr. Shimizu did a great work with me. The office has equipment which I can tell is the latest in technology and she was very gentle when doing the work in my mouth. I did not feel any pain, I felt relax and time went a lot faster than I expected. So far I can tell this has been the best experience I have had at a dental office and with a dentist. :)
