About Dr. Hemali Ajmera
Dr. Hemali was born and raised in Queens, New York. She attended Bronx High School of Science and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University, graduating with the Class of 2008. She completed her residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in 2009. Currently, she serves on the Board of Trustees of the Queens County Dental Society and is a member of both the New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Her hobbies include traveling, running, cooking, writing, and classical dance. Her parents, Drs. Ajmera, are both dentists and also graduates of New York University, living in Queens, NY since 1980.
Our office offers many phases of general and cosmetic dentistry, including basic dental care and oral hygiene, cavity fillings, crown and bridge work, root canal therapy for infected and painful teeth, and extractions for badly decayed teeth. We also provide in-office premium Opalescence Boost tooth whitening treatment, Lumineers (contact lens-thin veneers), and Snap-On Smile for cosmetic enhancement. We proudly serve the NY metro area, Long Island, and New Jersey, catering to many young professionals and families seeking high-quality dental care delivered with the gentle touch of a mother-daughter dental team. They called me numerous times to ask what insurance I had after being told the many times previously, only to arrive at the office to be told that my insurance was not accepted. Also, someone was calling me prom a private cellphone number, and leaving messages but when I called back, was always sent to their voicemail. A day before my appointment, they called and asked me to cancel my appointment on Zocdoc, but assured they had the appointment on their books… I’m not sure why.The receptionist was very very rude when telling me the insurance wasn’t accepted and told me I could pay their fee or leave and make another appointment when I had insurance. Very unkind. Never going back or recommending them ever.

don’t come here unless you want to be constantly berated about getting invisalign no matter how many times you say you don’t want it. also you are added to their calling list for life and they have no shame in calling you passed 7pm

This is not what I expected. I came at first for a cavity in front tooth and discovered had one in rear as well. Now after cavity and fill in I can’t drink anything cold nor eat anything hard due to serious pain while doing so. Now I have to get a root canal and pay out of pocket if insurance doesn’t approve. Seriously disappointed.

I was in their office for more than 6 hours. This dentist had me to teeth whitening. I paid for it in cash, out of my pocket.. ONLY TO GET MY TEETH CONSTANTLY BREAKING AFTERWARDS. Not only did I wasted my money but my teeth got messed up. THIS DENTIST IS A RIP OFF. Definitely not recommending. Waste of money, waste of time. Had an attitude the whole time and made me feel uncomfortable for having me stay for 6 hours. Pathetic. Boo!

I decided to give this office a try due to proximity to my home as well as the star rating. I arrived 30+ early in hopes to efficiently been in and out of there because after all it was just a cleaning. I waited over an hour in a room with just 2 other people to be seen. During that time, I asked since I’m there anyhow, would an exam be possible, to which the office obliged.
Once I was brought in to Dr. Ajmera’s office, she said hello but surprisingly did not even introduce herself as the doctor. Once she stood by my chair with hand on hip and proclaimed “what can I do you for?”, I knew I was in for quite a treat. I was actually perplexed as to why she hadn’t checked with the staff as to the purpose of my visit. Nonetheless, as I proceeded to open my mouth and tell her, she stopped me and exclaimed “whoa there is a lot that needs to be done in there”. After her charming proclamation on how bad my teeth were, and her IMMEDIATE insistence I needed to her veneers (!!), I politely stated “why don’t we start with the cleaning and exam and take it from there”. She however, with zero tract, continued to berate the bad job my orthodontist had done with my Invisalign (ironically, at the end of my appointment she discovered she trained under my orthodontist and changed her tune). She forced herself through my cleaning and the backs of my teeth are still filled with gunk, so I will need to wait another six months to get that done properly. I was almost ushered out of my chair until I reminded and asked her “can we go through my xrays?”. She went through those and explained work that I needed done that would be financially beneficial to her to complete (cap for instance). She did not look into my mouth ONCE and examine me. I would not visit this dentist again. Her staff was polite and helpful but I get the sense she kicks them around like dogs and is unappreciative. Thank God this is NYC with plenty of options. I’ll just make the extra trip and go back to my usual dental office which is slightly farther.

The doctor actually was kind and asked if I had any questions twice. But I did not like that they talked to the insurance with my personal information by the front receptionist window while I was sitting on the side of it and there was another patient in front of it. I didn't say anything because I do not like confrontation and did not want to be rude. Besides that, it was fine.

The first time I came to this office, I showed up on time for my appointment and wasn't seen until nearly an hour after my appointment time. I passed this off as just a very busy day and gave them the benefit of the doubt that it wouldn't happen again. I have since visited this office for a second time and once again, even though I showed up before my appointment time, I still had to wait for a little over an hour to be seen. The purpose of having an appointment should be to minimize any wait time by patients in order to get them in and our quickly - that does not seem to be the case at this office.

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Hemali Ajmera. I made an emergency appointment with her when I was experiencing pain from a wisdom tooth infection. She saw me quickly, prescribed me medication and reassured me that I would be okay (I’m a nervous baby when it comes to dental stuff!) 10/10 will be seeing her again!

Prices were a bit steep and looking for another opinion but will definitely go back for cleanings!
