It was my first visit to dentist in US. I can say that it was nice visit. I felt very comfortable myself there. The stuff was friendly and kind. Dr. Sheynman explained all my problems and gave me a great consultation and recommendations. I liked her professionalism and confidence.
I noticed only one lack - long waiting.

This was my first dentist appointment not being with my parents. I was a little nervous but the staff was VERY nice and professional. Dr. Sheynman was extremely helpful and made me feel comfortable. I definitely plan on keeping her as my dentist!

Dr. Irene Sheynman graduated in 2006 from the Marquette University School of Dentistry and completed her Residency at Loyola University Medical Center. During her residency, Dr. Sheynman focused on pediatrics, oral surgery, cosmetic and esthetic dentistry, as well as prosthodontics (restorative procedures). Dr. Sheynman has been practicing with 1st Family Dental since then.
Dr. Irene Sheynman enjoys working with children, and both children and adults who love her calming and reassuring demeanor. Dr. Sheynman administers Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for those who may feel a little nervous about seeing the dentist. Dr. Sheynman likes to look at whole-mouth health, which helps her patients to not only know what is going on right now, but also focuses on education and preventive techniques to make sure the future holds a bright and healthy smile! Dr. Sheynman is a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Sheynman is also fluent in Russian.
In her spare time, Dr. Irene Sheynman enjoys a variety of activities including gardening, running, yoga, cooking, reading and knitting.

It was fine. It was basically like every other dentist I've been to- painful and awkward. They don't seem to know very much about holistic dentistry or new advances in dentistry, which is something I really liked about my last dentist. But they take my new insurance, so I'll be sticking with 1st Dental I guess.

From the moment I stepped in I was greeted politely and Dr Sheynman made sure I left comfortable. She didn't push any extra services into my visit. She did exactly what I asked for. I would go back to see her for sure for my future dental appointments!

First Family Dental did not have a record of my appointment on file. This was even though I received an email reminder the day before my appointment and a text message 30 minutes before my appointment from ZocDoc. I also had spoken to a staff member from First Family Dental on the phone a few weeks ago about this. The office still agreed to see me, but I had to wait nearly an hour and the dentists and hygienist who saw me were both very rushed. I have been going to First Family Dental for two years, and this was the longest wait and the shortest time with the dentist I have ever experienced.

The hygienist was great! The wait to see Dr. Sheynman after getting my teeth cleaned was pretty long considering she MAYBE spent five minutes with me. At least in those five minutes, she didn't try to sell me anything. Just the standard "you should be flossing more."

I waited half an hour before the dentist started my cleaning. The dentist did not apologize until I pointed out I had waited for 30 minutes. It did not look as though there were many other patients so not sure why it took so long. I have been a patient at this location for over 5 years and next time I will make sure to ask for a different dentist since this is the first I have this problem. Due to the dentist running so late I was late for an appointment.

I highly recommend Dr. Sheynman! She's very friendly, professional, thorough, and she is very prompt and on-time with her patients. To top it all off she even has Saturday office hours! She has addressed all dental concerns I have had and I'm very pleased with her. I've seen her multiple times and plan on continuing to in the future.

I am very happy I found Dr. Sheynman. Many dentists try to convince you that you need unnecessary procedures-- not her. She is a true professional and gave a very thorough cleaning and consultation. She was also gentle and caring about my pain level the entire time. The office accidentally overcharged me for my visit, and called me on their own to fix it later that same day! Very nice.

It was a good first visit. While I was waiting it would of been nice to be offered the chance to change the TV channel. In the lobby TV was a children cartoon show and at the office I had to watch Spanish soap opera. The ourpose of the TV is to help you relax and pass the time while your waiting.

Overall the visit went very well. I haven't been to the dentist in a long time and need much work done. I had my teeth cleaned today and was given medication for a gum infection.I did not feel judged for bad dental care and Dr. Sheynman was very professional and honest which was great. She is very straight forward about the issues that need to be addressed but(a lot of issues people. I have 7 cavaties, a gum infection and need 3 extractions) she did not make me feel bad about it. If you're scared of going to the dentist like I am I would recommend going to this one.

She took care of my problem, and I was happy. Unfortunately, although she explained my treatment option, at the end she left the room and didn't care much to have me back for my treatment. I guess she left it up to me. It would have been nice if she had at least told her assistant to explain my treatment and pricing.

Dr. Sheynman was great! It had been a few years since my last dental visit and was expecting a good amount of judgment and berating but got none of that. Instead she just told me where and how that might make the cleaning more painful so that I could be prepared. Fortunately, she was thorough but gentle and pain is probably too harsh a word for the mild discomfort I felt during the cleaning.
