My spouse and I visited together. We are both satisfied with this office. We will visit it again for our next dental visit.
Additionally, I was surprised (in a good way) that this office also offers implants. They examined my situation and recommended options for treatments, and prices. Although I haven't decided, because I view this office positively, I may get implants here once I make up my mind on a treatment plan.

Dr. Jernigan completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2000 from the University of Memphis and subsequently graduated from dental school in 2005 from the University of Tennessee College of Health Sciences in Memphis. Upon completing his education, Dr. Jernigan set his sights on Dallas and soon began practicing dentistry with a well-known corporate dentistry group. After spending three years sharpening his skills, he believed he could provide better patient care clinically and administratively at his own practice. He founded Family Dentistry in 2008 (originally known as Smile Builders Dental Center and then Tu Dentista). Although our name has changed to better reflect the communities he serves, his philosophies on education, prevention and an exceptional patient experience have remained constant. He is proud of the practice and reputation he has built and is extremely proud of his team – several of whom have been with him since the beginning. When not taking care of patients, Dr. Jernigan enjoys travelling. Scuba diving in Mexico and snow skiing in Colorado are two of his favorite past-times.

James explained my treatment very thoroughly and made sure I understood each and every detail of what was going on inside my mouth. He and his assistant took very detailed photographs and X-rays and walked me through all the findings. The best dental experience I've ever had. The fillings I ended up getting were super fast and completely pain free. I'm definitely pleased with my visit and will keep coming back.

This was a very good experience. I have always been anxious about dental office visits but I must say this was a different experience. Everyone in the office was pleasant and inviting. The difference this time was how thorough the dentist was in taking the time to explain in very simple terms what my dental situation was and what my xrays showed. Even when Inwas getting my cleaning the technician was explaining what she was doing and how I should take care of my teeth. The bedside manner was better than I could ask for, that is very important to me. I would recommend this office to family and friends. Im happy to have found my new dentisit office!

I found Dr. Jernigan and his staff extremely friendly, thorough, efficient, and professional in their work. They asked me more questions and took more measurements and documenting pictures than I've ever seen in a dentist office, but did so in a transparent way: explaining the purpose of each step, helping me understand what procedures insurance will or won't pay for and what it will cost me, etc. I look forward to visits to this dentist office because I trust that I'll be in and out quickly, will feel comfortable and safe, and won't be hit by any surprise charges.

Dr. Jernigan impressed me with his professionalism. He has a thoroughness and attention to detail. He also was great about providing treatment options, allowing the chance to decide and have a say in what personally worked best for me (i.e. treatment timeframes, cost, etc.). Dr. Jernigan explained in a clear & easy to understand way, what he was doing throughout the visit and also his thoughts on best options for going forward in future visits. The office was clean and comfortable and staff friendly. Very friendly staff.
Dr Jernigan addresses the reason for your visit, and does not trying to up sale you on other things like so many dentist offices do theses day. He carefully goes over x-rays/pictures with you and explains your treat. You are not rushed through the process.

I don't feel like Dr. Jernigan is rushed or has too many patients to see that day. He explains the procedures in layman language so I have a clear understanding of my treatment plan.

This was by far the most thorough dentist visit I've even had. They took time to take pictures of my mouth and each individual tooth far beyond the requirements, explained how to interpret the scans and how to deal with any problems they identified, etc. Dr. Jernigan has probably spent more time in-person with me in this one cleaning than any of my prior dentists have spent with me combined across all visits. He had a professional but warm, relaxed and personal way about his work, and I get the feeling that he cares more about customer health and satisfaction than about just meeting the requirements and pushing clients through the mill; I wish more dentists shared that priority. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

My second visit with Dr.Jernigan and I am quite impressed. I first visited the office over a year ago due to some problems with another dentist and my insurance. I told them at the office that it may be awhile until my issues were resolved. They took care of me and as soon as my insurance became available I went back and I plan on returning. Thanks to the doctor and his great staff at Maple Avenue.

Dr. Jernigan is a great dentist and very patient with his clients. He does not rush and takes the time to explain everything. He pauses for questions and is thorough in his response. Very impressed, well organized group that acted in total sync managing multiple patients with zero chaos. Lots of high tech time saving tools. Didnt realize they were conviently located near my home in Oak Lawn for over eight years. I don't have insurance but they can set up affordable payment plans even for seniors with low income. Very pleased with all of their great work!
