Dr. Jason Reesor is a general dentist who feels privileged to play an important role in giving patients a reason to smile. He enjoys the technical aspects of dentistry, and how paying attention to the small details of a person’s smile enables him to provide cosmetic and restorative treatments that look natural and last a long time. He joined the Beautiful Smiles of La Jolla team in 2016.
Dr. Reesor is a Stouffville, Ontario native who grew up playing hockey. He played hockey at the University of Guelph, where his team won a national championship in 1997, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1999.
He went on to play professional hockey in various minor leagues for five years, including the International Hockey League, the ECHL, and a season in the Netherlands.
He ultimately decided to return to school after what he calls a "fortuitous toothache.” In pain and without insurance, he contacted a college friend who was in dental school. The friend fixed his tooth and while catching up with each other, Dr. Reesor determined that dental school would be his new goal.
Dr. Reesor studied pre-med at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Reesor says his years spent competing as an athlete, his experience living abroad –including time spent in South Korea teaching English -- and his diverse job history helped him to cultivate a valuable skill set to deal compassionately with every patient to achieve the best results. He often is complimented for his chairside manner.
Dr. Reesor and his wife Jennifer, a dental hygienist, live in Carlsbad with their two children. When he isn’t working, Dr. Reesor loves to cook, travel, listen to music and spend time with his family.
