Dr. Ted Melchers graduated in 1984 from the Medical University of South Carolina School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. His special interests include sleep apnea, treatment of snoring, conservative aesthetic treatment, and laser dentistry. Dr. Melchers' approach to dental care is conservative and minimally invasive. It is the norm, not the exception, for patients to experience truly pain-free dental care here. To maintain a stress- and pain-free environment, he utilizes advanced techniques including lasers, nitrous oxide, anxiety-reducing oral medications, and new anesthetics.
Dr. Melchers has been married for 39 years and has four married children and seven grandchildren. He also has one dog and four grand-dogs. His other interests include fishing, hunting, beekeeping, and playing the trumpet. He has performed with various musical ensembles in the area, including the Charleston Community Band, Charleston Wind Symphony, South Coast Symphony, East Cooper Baptist Church Orchestra, and other groups. A fifth-generation Charlestonian, Dr. Melchers is an active member and Elder of East Cooper Baptist Church. He and his family have served the Charleston and Mt. Pleasant communities for generations.
