I am a general dentist in historic Folsom. I have extensive training in cosmetics, implants, and orthodontics.
To give you a little background on myself, my father was a dentist, so I was introduced to dentistry at a young age. I received my degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in Texas. I began practicing in Antioch and decided to move to the growing Folsom area in 1992. On a more personal note, my family and I live in Folsom. We love spending time on Folsom Lake, riding our bikes on the trails and dirt biking in the Sierras. I have my private pilots license and have a passion for flying.
I started my practice by restoring an old historical home. It really has given the office a unique and comfortable atmosphere.
I have a knowledgeable, friendly and caring staff. We offer services to all ages. My staff and I all have children and are able to understand and care for the needs of the younger patients as well as adult patients.
At our office, we realize that many people are fearful of dentistry. We take the time to understand our patients needs, and make every effort to make their visit as comfortable as possible. I feel that our high quality dentistry and caring staff keeps our patients coming back.

I called in to get a 6 month cleaning as I was due to get one and when I came in for the visit the receptionist was rude and also forgot to book the 6 month cleaning, only booked me for the initial consultation as a new client. I was also told that it was extremely important to fill out the required paperwork beforehand and they ended up sending the paperwork only 2.5 hours before my actual appointment time.

Dr wood does great work, is friendly, and seems very competent.
I can't say that for the receptionists... They were very incompetent with insurance policies and caused me to waste a lot of time and money... I asked them 3 times if they accepted my ins plan, while they accepted my ins, they didn't accept the plan. Instead of reviewing my ins card I produced and realizing they don't accept my plan. They chose to do the work and wait till I called them out on it and imidiately put blame on the internet and that their policies have not been updated.....
Apologizing for ones incompetence is much better than placing the blame on someone or something else. Especially an internet application they subscribe to.

The staff was really friendly, very welcoming right when you walk through the front door. It was my first time coming in and they knew my name when I first came in without meeting me first hand. The x ray went quick and they made me feel comfortable during the process. I will continue using this place for my ongoing dental care and I would have my family go. I recommend this place if you want comfort, it is not the typical busy dentist, it is a quiet atmosphere.

I hate going to the dentist, so, I hadn't been in 2 years, but this was a very pleasant experience.. Very nice office, staff was great and the dentist took his time to explain and show me everything! Waited 2 years for nothing.. :)
