Dr. Liu is a Birmingham native, growing up in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. Dr. Liu returned to his hometown of Birmingham to attend dental school. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2018, where he was inducted into the dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Liu then completed a three-year residency in periodontology in 2021 at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he served as Chief Resident during his third year. In addition to receiving a Certificate in Periodontology, he also obtained a Master of Science in Dentistry with a research project that focused on bone and soft tissue augmentation. This research project was awarded first place in the William M. Pennel Research Competition of the Southern Academy of Periodontology in 2021. Dr. Liu was also selected as a finalist for the Balint Orban Memorial Competition of the American Academy of Periodontology in 2022. Dr. Liu is Board Certified in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery and holds Diplomate status through the American Board of Periodontology. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Liu is excited to be able to serve the community where he grew up. In his free time, Dr. Liu enjoys spending time with his wife Elyse, spending time with his family, traveling, playing sports, and playing musical instruments.
