I was born in 1964 in Saigon, Viet Nam, the seventh child of nine siblings. My family was left behind in Viet Nam after the communist took over the country and lost all our fortunes including our own home. In July 1982, after 7 years of struggling to escape the country, my family immigrated to Belgium as refugees. By September 1982, I successfully passed the entrance exam for Medical School and matriculated at the University of Notre Dame De La Paix, School of Medicine in Namur, Belgium. After the second year of my medical studies, my father had decided to move again to California in the USA. Knowing no English, I had to start all over again with my academic program. In California, I attended UCLA and graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 1989. I then went on to attend the prestigious Ivy League University of Pennsylvania Dental School and graduated in 1993. After graduation I attended the post-Doctoral program at The United States Dental Institute for training in Orthodontics and The Loma Linda University for training in Dental Implant. I successfully passed all the rigorous required exams and became an Associate Fellow of The American Academy of Implant Dentistry. Over the last two decades, I have pursued a career in Dentistry with an emphasis on Esthetic, Orthodontics, and Implant Dentistry. At the same time, I have built a successful practice in Orange County, our practice has been serving hundreds of patients and are known in the community for providing excellent and quality care. I also serve as a board member of VPASC Foundation from 2010 to present where we create programs to serve the local community, including organizing health fair every year to treat and advise patients for their medical and dental needs. I am also an advisor for MEMO student group where we visit the third world country to serve the less fortunate people for their much-needed health and dental care. I live in Orange County with my wife, we have three children. My wife is a Gastroenterologist at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. My eldest daughter is a medical resident in training for Ophthalmology at The University of Houston in Houston, Texas. My second son is a medical student at Tuft School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and my youngest daughter is attending college and an avid equestrian. My hobbies include traveling, singing and playing tennis.
