The procedure that Dr. Schlesinger did (deep cleaning) was quite painful unlike the previous visit when he did the same procedure on another quadrant of my mouth. Even the local anesthesia was more painful. I am more sensitive to pain so had a difficult experience. I think it would have been appropriate for Dr. Schlesinger to show concern about my distress and not just say that I am too sensitive to pain. Even so, he could have stopped for me to rest and relax before continuing. This is why I am afraid to do the last deep cleaning. Otherwise, my gums are fine after the cleaning so Dr. Schlesinger probably did a good job but for me it was a traumatic visit.

I was happy with my visit with Dr. Schlesinger. He was very polite and performed the dental procedure very carefully, without pain accomodating my requests. He explained the nature of the disease, treatment, the follow up plan and gave me confidence that he will do his best to restore the health of my gums and teeth.

Dr. Mark Schlesinger received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry, where he graduated at the top of his class. He was elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and graduated with distinction as the recipient of the Quintessence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Periodontics.
Dr. Schlesinger went on to complete an additional three years of extensive specialty training in the prestigious Advanced Education Program in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry at the New York University College of Dentistry.
Upon graduation, Dr. Schlesinger was honored with both the Leadership and Clinical Excellence Awards, historically given to two graduates, rather than one. After completing specialty training, Dr. Schlesinger became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
He is also a Fellow of the World Clinical Laser Institute, a distinction given to dentists who have demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of lasers and their applications in dentistry, as well as a commitment to the advancement of laser dentistry. Dr. Schlesinger is also licensed in the State of New York to perform conscious sedation.

He did not seem at all invested in having me get the best results for a treatment of gum recession. The result was a disappointment, and he had a dismissive attitude about it. I needed more work, but he did not seem at all in good disposition to continue working with me, or even talk about what other procedures we could do next.

He was very friendly, informative, honest and thorough. I only waited 5 minutes because I arrived early and was the first appointment of the day. He personally cleaned my teeth, which I loved as that helped him to get to know my hygiene and could tell me what to do more, less and better. He is the first new dentist I've seen since my childhood and he made the experience completely painless. I've already recommended him to family and friends in the area.

Dr. Schlesinger is caring and knowledgeable. However, I do not think that during the visit he examined me thoroughly enough to suggest a complicated surgical treatment. He had not seen me in about a year and diagnosed my condition without looking into my mouth properly with light and tools or examining all teeth, did not take into account my request for non-surgical therapy and explanation of family and disease history. Although I ma not a dentist, I am a medical doctor and know that the patient can tell you important things about their condition and the physician would be good to listen to the patient and comfort them.
