Dr. Megan Shelton is proud to offer patients from Carlsbad, CA and surrounding communities the high quality dental services they deserve. At a very young age, Dr. Shelton decided she wanted to find a career that combined the medical and business skills that she saw in her family. At age 12, her family dentist suggested that dentistry might be the perfect field to combine business, medicine, problem solving, and hands-on care, all of which Dr. Shelton looked for in her ideal career path.
A native of Wichita, Dr. Shelton completed her undergraduate degree work at Wichita State University and earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Shelton is committed to continually growing and improving within the field of dentistry, and in order to do so, she completes hours of continuing education each year. Additionally, she maintains membership in a number of dental organizations and is certified in several advanced treatment options.
Following the completion of her studies, Dr. Shelton moved to Carlsbad, CA, where she joined a dental practice and married her husband Nick. They have one gold retriever named Cali. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in the community, taking photos, and traveling.

Honestly, I haven’t been to the dentist in nine years. I didn’t have a good dentist as a child, and the man was mean and rude. I automatically assumed all dentists would be like this, but now I’m 26 and needed to go to the dentist finally. I can say that I can believe how lucky I am to have found her and her team. They were unbelievably wonderful and sweet, and from the minute I walked in to the minute I left, I felt cared for, nurtured and made a priority. I felt comfortable, though I was a little scared. They kept everything very upbeat and positive, complimenting me, but being real with me. I don’t know if they could sense my nervousness, but it didn’t show. They were warm and there were TVs on the ceiling! So cool! Much different than your basic dentist. Everyone should go here! I can say that I’m actually excited to go to the dentist now.

Dr Shelton and her staff are very professional and made me feel at ease. I needed two crowns: she made them in the office in about 30 minutes. This negated having to have temporary crowns installed and returning later for final crowns: fabulous. On my previous visit, Amber (the hygienist) also took digital photos of my teeth (in addition to the usual X-rays). This is an amazing tool as you (the patient) can see the exact status of each tooth. Amber did a very thorough cleaning. And thank you Charlotte for your support during the procedure and also showing me the machine that makes the crowns actually in operation.

Actually moved my dental care from the previous office that Doctor Shelton worked at so that I could continue my care with her. She is meticulous about the work she does and explains what the treatment plan is extremely well. I've always been taken back to my appointment almost immediately after walking in. Never had to wait. Followup on procedures shows she really cares. Always hated to go to the dentist but now I don't dread it.
