He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Minnesota in 1973, followed by his Endodontics degree in 1976. After a successful 13-year private practice in North Dakota, he relocated to Southern California, where he established another practice in the San Diego area. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the San Diego Dental Society. In his time away from the dental office, he enjoys reading historical novels and horsemanship.
