Doctor Thetford grew up in Nashville where his father practiced orthodontics for 50 years. While going to school at David Lipscomb High and College he would spend time with his dad gaining experience in the dental field. After graduating from The University of Tennessee in 1985, he entered a Hospital Residency at Hubbard and VA hospitals. Since 1986 he has been in private practice in Nashville. In 1991 he built his dental office at 2145 Belcourt Avenue. He currently has five office staff who have been with him a combined total of 30 plus years. Dr. Thetford is a member of several dental, as well as civic organizations. He attends continuing education courses and enjoys learning new and exciting advances in the dental industry.
Dr. Thetford has always enjoyed missionary work. After spending two weeks on St. Vincent, West Indies during his residency, he developed a passion for mission work. For the past 11 years he and his family have traveled to Honduras to provide dental care to those in need.
When not spending time with his family, he enjoys cycling and various other activities. He and his wife Kim, have three children: Sarah Catherine, Andrew and Adam. In years past, he enjoyed coaching his children in various sports.
