I thought my visit was very pleasant. Dr Ricardo took time to explain his diagnosis made recommendation after completing what I went there for. I was not handled as a "business"; it was just a pleasant human interaction.

I went to Dr. Gaitan for a checkup and cleaning. I enjoyed his thorough review of my teeth. I didn't like that I had to fill out forms again even though I filled it out on ZocDoc already. I didn't like the television program showing at the waiting room. I liked the materials available in the waiting room including coupons. I didn't like that I spent about 2 hours at the dentist, but that was likely b/c I was a new patient. I liked the free samples, friendly staff, and clean professional environment in the office. I'd like the office to not use Windows XP as I think it will not be safe anymore Microsoft ending support on it.

Dr. Ricardo Gaitan is originally from Peru, graduated from San Marcos University Dental School in Lima in 1985. He is certified Orthodontist from the College of Dentist of Peru in 1991. In 1997 Dr. Gaitan obtained the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) after completion of three years Advanced Standing Program at the University of Maryland Dental School. He also completed Orthodontics externship in 1997 at the UMAB. Dr. Gaitan completed his Orthodontic mini Residency Program at the University of Washington in 2000.
Dr. Ricardo Gaitan is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Society, World Federation of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Peruvian Orthodontic Society, Iberoamerican Association of Orthodontists and many foreign dental institutions. Annually, Dr. Gaitan gives lectures in orthodontic meetings overseas and expends his time in community activities: he is a member of the NIAF- National Italian American Foundation and he is former president of two institutions: American Peruvian Chamber of Commerce and the AIPEUC - Peruvian Institutions Association of USA and Canada.
In 2005, Dr. Gaitan was recognized with the TUMI USA AWARD in Miami, Florida for his notable contributions to the Peruvian Community in USA and as Outstanding Peruvian Professional in the State of Virginia. This prestigious award event was televised in America, Europe and Asia.
Since 1997 Dr. Gaitan treats patients in his three practices located in Fairfax, Sterling and Springfield and as Orthodontist Consultant at his practice located in Lima, Peru.
Dr. Gaitan is fluent in English, Italian and Spanish.

Good manner, but he only looks additionals procedure to provide. I went for tooth pain in the right side after his deep cleaning I had other crown in the other side and intolerance to cold in another tooth. I will look for other dentist for the other dental procedure and I am concern that my insurance will not cover all of the procedures that I received with Ricardo Gaitan.

Very thorough dental cleaning. Dr. Gaitan and the hygenists were also enjoyable to talk to and made sure I understood what they were doing and why. Very knowledgable staff. Will definitely return.

Dentist was great explained everything well. I did not like the fact that the dentist said I can set up payment arrangements (up to 3 or 4 payments) for the down payment then the front office stated they are not able to do that. We went to another Orthodontist got a cheaper rate on the braces and was able to set-up a payment plan that works out well for my financial situation.

He's very professional. Give great advise about the treatments for my dental issues. It has been the best experience when going to a dentist. I was not nervous like other times with other dentists and my extraction was faster than I thought and well done.

The nurse was incompetent. In short, she spent 5 minutes trying to get the x-ray machine aligned correctly and then requested that I, the patient, hold it in place. When I mentioned that I was not qualified to be positioning the x-ray she left the room and so did I. The doctor re-asked me half the questions I filled out before coming in.
