More about Dr. Richard Villa, DMD
I’ve worked in the Glen Allen community for 35 years — ten years as a general dentist and 25 years as an orthodontist. I was always fascinated with science and medicine in particular and all things mechanical. I was drawn to dentistry because it incorporates all of these so seamlessly.
In order to keep current with ever-changing technologies in the orthodontic field, I take more than twice the required hours of continuing education required by the state. It is imperative for me to provide my patients with the newest and most cutting-edge techniques in orthodontic care to achieve the best, longest-lasting results.
To that end, I’m involved in a number of local study groups, such as the Richmond Dental Society and the Richmond Orthodontic Study Club. I also attend formal continuing education courses put on by various orthodontic companies such as Invisalign®, as well as courses offered by the American Association of Orthodontists and the Southern Association of Orthodontists.
I grew up in and around Boston, but lived around the country as well as in Europe when I was with the Air Force. I have lived in Richmond for more than 20 years.
I enjoy spending time with my wife Tiffany, my two grown boys and two girls, as well as our dog and two cats. When we are not at a soccer game or gymnastics or a dance recital, my wife and I like traveling, cooking, and hiking. We are also active contributors to many local school athletic and arts programs.
