Dr. Sanderson made me feel at ease, and although I went in knowing that there was a problem and leaving minus a tooth and plus a temporary bridge, it wasn't a horrible experience. All of this occurred during the horrible storm Thursday afternoon (June 28). I have had very little pain from the procedure.

First of all, I detest going to the dentist. Awful experiences as a child have scarred me into adulthood. Hence, I've stayed away and neglected my dental health. While my smile 'appeared' great, my teeth were in poor health. Turned out, I needed two root canals and fillings. That was not a surprise to me. What WAS surprising was the experience I had with Dr. Sanderson and his staff. He actually had to redo substandard work done by my previous dentist, who did an insufficient root canal and charged me a giant bill for it. I"m usually suspicious about doctors/dentists doing and suggesting work that isn't necessary just to milk my insurance. After Dr. Sanderson patiently gave explanations and answered my many questions, I was confident that he was honest. Dr. Sanderson and his staff were a surprising delight. I appreciated Dr. Sanderson's informative, direct, and professional disposition. That is my experience thus far, and I plan to continue going back.

Dr. Robert Sanderson graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in May of 1985. Upon graduating from dental school, Dr. Sanderson entered the United States Air Force and was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. During his service there, he was able to participate in rotations through all the specialties of dentistry. Upon returning to the Birmingham area, Dr. Sanderson joined a dental practice in Vestavia Hills, Ala., and also began teaching at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he continued for 10 years. He moved to his current location in Hoover, Ala. during 2000.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, the Birmingham District Dental Society, and "The Dr. Frank Spear Study Club," a national dental continuing education group.
Emergency dental care is an integral part of his practice. Among the procedures he is able to offer are extractions, root canals, dentures, crowns, bridges, teeth whitening, cosmetic veneers, cosmetic fillings, dental implant restorations and reconstructions.
During his time away from dentistry, Dr. Sanderson enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. They enjoy involvement with their local church and friends, and traveling as a family. He was blessed to have spent his childhood in Brazil while his parents served as missionaries. Dr. Sanderson is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, a gift that facilitates treating international patients.

This was my first visit and he was very kind and made sure that everyone I'm the office was taken care of in a timely manner! I would recommend him! They took my insurance and it was a super easy and painless cleaning. He did a good job of warming me up as a patient because honestly I hate the dentists office, but he carried on conversation like normal so it made me feel like I was in good hands! Thank you! Root canal and crown - no pain after the root canal, prescribed pain meds and didn't have to use them, the crown was fitted today 1 week ahead of schedule, they pushed to making and fitting of the crown ahead of usual wait time as I work away on short notice, good atmosphere in the office, felt comfortable, appreciate Robert's good nature and above all his workmanship was very good, no pain and I can now drink cold water again!

I was seen promptly by the hygienist who was very pleasant and thorough. I have been a patient of Dr. Sanderson's for almost 20 years. He is very congenial and checks my teeth after every cleaning. He explains completely whatever needs to be done and why. The office staff is very friendly and willing to check to see what your insurance will pay. Altogether, it is the best experience with dentists as it is quick, thorough, and as painless as possible.
