Dr. Barbosa-Ruiz was born and raised in Bogota Colombia area. She attended Colombia Dental School in Bogota Colombia where she earned her DDS. She moved to the United States and in 1991 received her Preceptorship in Periodontics at the University of Texas in Houston. This program enhances the preceptor’s knowledge necessary for evaluation and treatment of patients with periodontal diseases and implant needs. She was a clinical instructor for both the University of Texas Dental Branch and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry. She continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in Philadelphia earning her DMD in 1994. She has remained in the Philadelphia area establishing her private practice in Drexel Hill in 1998. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Barbosa-Ruiz feels great personal satisfaction in being able to help her patients achieve optimal dental health and a beautiful smile. She takes very seriously the trust her patients place in her abilities. And her goal is that every patient has a positive, comfortable dental experience.
Dr. Barbosa-Ruiz is very happily married to Dr. Cesar Ruiz. They have two beautiful children, a daughter, Olga, 25 and a son, Carlos, 18. She enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new cuisine. Exercise and healthy eating are a part of her daily routine.

This was the most pleasant visit I've had at a dentist office despite being in the most pain. Dr. Barbosa-Ruiz was kind and genuinely concerned about getting me the best care. She listened and then gave me options that would be most suitable for my financial budget. This was my first visit and I will definitely be going back.

The Doctor was very supportive of my needs. I had a unforeseen reaction to either the Novocaine or the drilling to the cavity not sure. Dr. Ruiz was very kind, patient and supportive. The cleaning fell a little short no flossing and the back two teeth on the right still feel gritty. I expressed that to the young lady that polished my teeth but I guess with the reaction I had it got side tracked. Will be back in the office on Wednesday for second filling.

My visit was about as good as it gets - for a dental appointment. The doctor and staff are gentle, polite and highly skilled. Soft music, a nick pillow and soothing office colors make a calming setting. I highly recommend this dental practice.
