More about Dr. Sonja Babic, DDS
After more than a decade, Dr. Babic is once again proud to call Austin her home. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005 with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry. Upon graduating she moved to Dallas and begun working as a DNA analyst - helping police departments solve crimes using forensic science. It was at one of the forensic science conferences where she discovered forensic odontology – study of forensic dentistry.
In dreams of further pursuing her forensic career, Dr. Babic received her M.S. in Biomedical Sciences in 2007 from the Health Science Center at The University of North Texas at Fort Worth. Soon after she moved to Los Angeles, CA where she completed her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 2012.
Her passion for Dentistry and public service led her to join The Army and serve alongside service men and women providing oral health care. She spent four years stationed at Fort Hood, TX where she gained invaluable training in general dentistry including digital (CAD/CAM) dentistry and forensic dentistry.
An avid animal lover, Dr. Babic volunteered at the Ft. Hood Veterinary Clinic providing dental restorations and root canals to four legged veterans as well.
Dr. Babic loves spending time with her two rescue chihuahuas, Pooky and Bunny, and her, also a rescue cat Maya. She loves cooking and considers herself a “foodie”, always interested in trying new recipes and discovering all that Austin has to offer. Now that she is done pursuing her educational and military careers she hopes to spend more time traveling and exploring as much of this world as possible.
