Dr. Sonu is really a good dentist, down to earth and friendly to kids.
When we went his clinic first time wait time is less than 30 minutes. Office has nice setup has good friendly staff. I would definitely recommend to my friends to visit to Dr. Sonu office.

Dr. Sonu Kakar, founder of our practice, attended the University of Virginia and earned his undergraduate degree in Chemistry in 1997. He received his Dental Degree from the School of Dentistry at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Following dental school, Dr. Kakar completed a Pediatric Dental Training program at the Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. His training involved treating pediatric patients under Nitrous Sedation, Conscious Sedation, and General Anesthesia in the hospital operating room. Dr. Kakar performs treatment under General Anesthesia at the Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia.
Dr. Kakar is a member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He resides in McLean, Virginia and enjoys watching movies, playing tennis, racquetball, and traveling.

Money hungry provider. They delayed billing my insurance by 5 months and when we went to schedule our 6 month follow up, they refused to take us because they had not been paid by insurance. Which could be understandable until the provider said in his explanation that "in this country this is how it works". Borderline racist.
The actual appointment was not much better. For a pediatric dental office they completely lack anything kid friendly that would make it easier for little one. When my 3 year old became ancy (as would be typical for a first visit) they took us in a back room with two office chairs and he got his cleaning while he sat on my lap.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS "PEDIATRIC" DENTIST. I switched doctors immediately because my daughter wasn't getting enough attention and treatment for even a simple cleaning! After waiting for nearly 1-2 hours, it took him less than five minutes to say "You've got beautiful teeth, babe. You're all good." to my teenage daughter who was expecting more proper treatment. When requesting for transferring of records, the office refused to do so. I called after hours, during business hours many times. One time, it was Dr. Kakar who picked up instead of the little to none English speaker nurses. He spoke VERY arrogantly and told me that I was calling the after hour hotline (which is the only number they ever have) and that he picked up because he was a "nice" person and if we wanted a record transfer we had to pay which is illegal. He hung up on me. After switching to a new dentist, they needed some records which to this day are still waiting and when they asked for records from Dr. Kakar's office, they never sent them. I made a formal complaint and just got a letter saying that the complaint pretty much went nowhere because a staff member said that they tried calling me once but "I never picked up". The community will be in much better hands with Dr. Kakar's license revoked. TERRIBLE DENTIST.

The consultation was actually good. The office was well designed and clean. However, it was much too crowded and chaotic for me personally. Arriving early and being seen late didn't help, either. My daughter was upset that she didn't get a reward at the end of her visit like the other children. I think maybe the office is trying to overcome a few growing pains with their business which is understandable, but it's just too much for us.

I love Dr. Kakar! This was my 2 yr old son's first Dentist appointment. The wait time was short even though his appointment was during a peak morning time. One thing I would advise is fill the paperwork on here or arrive early. Once I filled that out and turned it in, we only waited about 5-10 mins to be seen. Dr. Kakar took the time to explain how to care for his teeth until he can do it himself. He also advised on things that we didn't think would have effects on his teeth. He let us know what he was he was doing and demonstrated for us proper technique. My son fussed but did not cry. He gave the doctor a high-five and said goodbye to everyone. We will definitely be coming back and I will recommend him to my other mommy friends!

The staff at this office is really great -- very caring and kind! The waiting room is sort of bland - no kids books or little chairs... the TV always seems to have "older child" cartoons on. But, once you're past the waiting room, they are super. Dr. Kakar is an outstanding dentist. My child was seen by his partner, as well, and we liked her, too.

Waiting room tiny, bathroom was not clean: paper towel on floor, and out of paper towel, too! Freezing bathroom. Compared to superwarm waiting room? Employees did not introduce themselves, and after we were done, they told us to wait 5 minutes so they can arrange the paperwork for payment and next appointment, it took them another 15 minutes. And then after giving $, another 10 minutes? They did not have change of $8. Making me IOU to them... because they can't break a 20 bill?

Office staff / Front desk was very friendly and professionally. More impressive as my daughter's appointment was on a Saturday morning. The lobby was full....roughly 5 to 7 other patients. The entire staff and doctors were friendly and timely. I did experience all a little problem with getting the insurance processed...but Nicole and Yolanda have been helpful.

I absolutely love Dr Kakar's office!! First impressions are the most important and they left a great one with my family and I. My son is 3 years old and this was his first dentist visit. He was so at ease and didn't cry, scream, hide or anything. From the genuinely helpful receptionist Yolanda to the the calming Dr. Kakar, the entire experience was one I wish I had on my first visit as a child. They get 2 thumbs up in my book.

I come from a family of health professionals. My dad is a dentist, sister a cardiologist, brother an OB/GYN. So I have high expectations when it comes to docs. Both the dental hygienist and Dr. Kakar were personable, had great bedside manners with my daughter and made her feel comfortable, which is the first must have for a dentist, I believe. Dr. Kakar was approachable, answered all my questions. His staff is also nice. They take the time to call you to adjust to your schedule or reschedule. I am very pleased and highly recommend.

Had some difficulty after booking the appointment-- the support staff needs better customer service training and had to reschedule once (Actual appointment was on January 28). Once I met with him, Dr. Kakar was friendly, warm, and caring with my 15 month old daughter. I was less than thrilled with this visit. Firstly our appointment wasnt on the books for whatever reason. Which caused a longer wait time than we should have had, which is never easy with a baby. secondly the office was so packed and congested i felt like we were on a conveyor belt going through a factory one by one...no personalization what so ever....the reception at the front was apologetic, but i just dont think us and this office will work out.

We saw Dr. Kakar yesterday for the first time. Our wait time was long because someone forgot to put on the schedule. Otherwise, it was an excellent experience. Dr. Kakar was fantastic with my daughter. She really had a very positive experience. He has a wonderful way with children. He even had my 19 month old laughing and playing. This is a very kid friendly office. We are very happy we found Dr. Kakar and will highly recommend him!
