Dr. Tema Starkman is a dedicated dentist who has a passion for helping her patients improve their oral health and feel confident in their smile. She has been practicing in the area for the last 8 years and plans to continue helping in any way she can. She graduated from New York University College of Dentistry in 2008 and earned her undergraduate degree from University of Arizona prior to dental school. Dr. Starkman keeps up with all of the current dental techniques, procedures, and technology by continuing her education every year. She is also a part time clinical instructor adjunct at New York University College of Dentistry since 2014. She also has advanced training in CAD/CAM dentistry, laser dentistry and implant dentistry.
Dr. Starkman and her husband have two children. She enjoys hiking, biking and tennis in her spare time.

Fantastic experience. I get anxiety going to the dentist from past experiences, but Dr. Starkman was very personable, taking the time to get to know me which made me feel more comfortable.
I went in for a cleaning and hand 2 cavities filled, she explained the devices she was using and the methodology which helped reassuree my anxiety.
This was my first dentist in NYC and I don’t intend on looking for another.

Dr. Starkman put me at ease from the second I walked into her office. She was easy to talk to and was super patient while she explained everything she’d be working on. Even more- she taught me so much about my teeth and the best way to take care of them. I found myself forgetting I was at the dentist because I felt like I was spending time with an old friend. Her care, humor, and professionalism had me leaving with a huge smile on my face!

I came in anxious about sensitivity I'd been experiencing near my gums. Dr. Starkman spent time explaining what was going on in many ways so I understood the problem and how to prevent it moving forward. She modeled what I can do on herself, on me, and with an anatomical model to ensure I really got it. She was incredibly thorough and caught other problem areas no other dentist had paid attention to. Moreover, she radiates kindness and an understanding of her patients holistic care. I trusted her immediately and eagerly scheduled my 5 month follow up. She'd get 6 stars if I could grant them. Highly recommend!! (I've seen many doctors via zocdoc and this is my first review -- she earned it!)

Dr. Starkman completely exceeded my expectations. This was my first time to the dentist in 8 years, so you can imagine the apprehension I felt before the appointment. It was her last appointment of the day and you'd never be able to tell because she had a fantastic energy and patience. Such a friendly woman! Dr. Starkman did an excellent job cleaning my teeth -- she was thorough and spent a lot of time making sure the cleaning was done correctly. She also gave me some very helpful tips on how to maintain a healthier oral hygiene. Highly recommend her -- I already scheduled a follow up appointment.

Dr. Starkman is the best! She pays so much attention to detail and makes sure you’re perfectly happy with everything before the appointment is over. She’s so easy to talk to and makes going to the dentist actually fun. Another plus is that dealing with booking and rescheduling appointments is so seamless with her—she’s very flexible and will text me with any updates, so I’m always in the know. She’s totally transformed my smile and I’ve only been seeing her for maybe six months or so. I highly, highly recommend her!

Dr Starkman is a fantastic dentist. I walked in, she saw me right away (and at 7pm for that matter so I didn't have to miss any work). She got to know me and answered all of my questions, quickly identifying and solving the issues I came in with. Her cavity filling was super quick and painless. Highly recommend!

Dr. Starkman is amazing. It appeared that a tooth I had recently got a filling in was the tooth that needed a root canal, but Dr Starkman did not just rely on X-rays. She did some other test before touching my teeth. She found the problem was the tooth close to it. She did more Xrays and found a shadow. When she opened it she found a deep cavity and infection that was eating at my bone. Noone else found this or new it was happening. She took her time and made sure to do what I needed. She is great!
