Dr. Terry Spurlin dreamed of being a dentist after a heart-to-heart with her father at age six. He asked one day, while she was riding in the back seat of the family car, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” A young Terry told him, “I want to be a ballerina!” But, he challenged her saying, “You look like a doctor to me!”
In retrospect, Dr. Spurlin realized that was the exact moment that she thought of becoming a doctor. The support, care and planted seed of becoming one is owed – in large part – to her father. She also owes much of her internal drive to succeed, a constant interest in the healthcare profession and fascination with dentistry, and an overall desire to care for people to her father. As an inquisitive child, Dr. Spurlin realized that the early conversation with her father was the catalyst for her interest in science and laid the groundwork for her future career.
Dr. Spurlin completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a pre-dental concentration. She also had the opportunity to further her studies in history and anthropology at the University of Ghana: Legon, West Africa before coming back to the United States to pursue and complete her degree in dentistry at Meharry Medical College. With the intent to be the best, she also completed her residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Her goal is to create and maintain beautiful and healthy smiles for years of laughter and enjoyment while making all her patients feel like they are guests. Well respected by her peers and community, as a Nashville dentist she is passionate about creating a relaxing and nurturing environment that provides each patient with an individualized experience where they receive exceptional care

From the moment I stepped into the office, Sherry was bright and shiny early in the morning. The staff was interested, engaging and empathetic. The office is lovely, and a restful place even with important procedures taking place. The doctor is such a gentle woman with the highest level of technique and professionalism. Everyone was very kind and helpful. I was walked through every procedure, which was very comforting. The little extras were really sweet (welcome note, chapstick) and it was wonderful to hear that Dr. Spurlin is with the team of dentists who volunteer their time and services to the women served by the YWCA domestic violence shelter I work at.

I had an appointment for a consultation but was waiting almost as long as some walk-in patients. Everything felt a little disorganized, and the actual consultation lasted about five minutes. I felt somewhat rushed out, and I was not prescribed anything and was instead referred to someone else. Everyone was nice enough, and it could have just been a busy day.

Easy to see how well educated everyone in the office is. Plus really appriciated how they explained what they were doing and why. Coming from someone who isn't the biggest fan of going to the dentist, this place was not a bad experience what so ever. 10/10

I felt incredibly comfortable and confident throughout my visit. Terry (the dentist) takes the time to talk to you in a 1:1 environment and make sure you're comfortable and informed on every step of the process before they move forward. That was really comforting for me. I also loved my hygienist, the whole experience was stellar.
I've already referred someone to this practice and he had nothing but positive things to say as well.
He hadn't been to the dentist in nearly a decade, and he was really scared of getting bad news, and that embarrassment and fear kept him from going to the dentist for a long time. I told him about my experience at Terry's practice, and he went, and his mouth looks 10 times better already.

Loved the professionalism, as well as, how they made me feel while I was there! The office is very nice, very clean. From the receptionist, to the lady Tiffany who did my X-rays, to Dr. Spurlin. They took of care of me literally from the moment I walked in the door making my coffee, gave me a tour, asked me did I want to watch a movie or listen to Pandora. She cut on Pandora. :) They had a gift sitting on the table as I went in the consultation room. Dr. Spurlin listened to all that I had to say, providing instant care, making sure I was getting the proper treatment, told me all that was wrong, without looking at me in a weird way. :) I would highly recommend!!

From their convenient hours & relaxing environment, to the education and time they take to let you know exactly what's going on with your treatment Dr. Spurlin and her staff truly go above and beyond to make sure that you are comfortable and informed. I've finally found a dental practice that makes my comfort and needs a top priority.
