Dr. Melnyk and her staff are always amazing. She has been seeing me for quite some time now and is always honest and professional. Dr. Melnyk genuinely cares for her patients and makes going to the dentist a great experience. I would definitely recommend coming to her office!

Booked an appointment on Zocdoc only to have the dentist office call me back minutes later to claim the appointment was not available. They then re-booked me for a week later. During the call they started to take down my information all over again without realizing I was a returning patient. I brought it to their attention that they should have all my info, which they did. Not sure why my info was not showing up in their system. In regard to the actual appointment, everything was lovely up until I tried to book a periodontal consultation and was informed there would be a costly consultation fee. This important bit of information was not shared with me until after I had scheduled the appointment. It should be mentioned immediately.

While still in college, Dr. Melnyk was employed as a dental assistant. Working in a dental environment surrounded by the artistry, skill, and life-changing impact on patients instilled in her a passion for dentistry and motivated Dr. Melnyk to pursue a dental career.
She successfully completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Dr. Melnyk then entered Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL, a graduate school of great academic record and advanced technology, where she received her DMD (Doctor of Medical Dentistry) degree, graduating with honors.
Dr. Melnyk began working in the Chicago area as an associate dentist for a large dental group. During this time, she had the opportunity to further expand her knowledge and expertise, while enhancing her skills and techniques. She felt comfortable in the care she provided but desired more in cultivating relationships with her patients.
In 2017, Dr. Melnyk purchased Smileworks Center from Dr. Lani Basco, a well-regarded dentist, who had created a patient culture that was unique and based on genuine relationships. Dr. Melnyk intends to continue this philosophy, and promote a professional and caring environment for her patients.
In her free time, Dr. Melnyk enjoys being with her family and loves creating new memories with her husband, two children, and dog Bella.

What a great experience! It has been a long while since I've been to a dentist, mainly out of extreme fear and anxiety about being judged and knowing I have poor teeth, and after a visit with another dentist years ago that was really bad, I was fearful for finding another dentist office that was warm, friendly, and not judgemental. I found that at Smile Works with Dr. Melnyk and her warm staff, especially Maria who was so sweet! The receptionists made me feel welcomed as soon as I entered and were very nice and reassuring. The whole team, Dr. included, go the extra mile and make sure to tell you exactly what is happening, why, and show you your teeth. They all really made what was always an experience filled with fear and anxiety the exact opposite and I am excited to have found them! They will easily be my dentist forever!

I've always had terrible anxiety with the dentist and avoided it as much as possible. Dr.Melnk and her team made any anxiety I associated with the dentist dissappear. Her presence is very warm and calming. I never feel judged or scolded because of a cavity. And her staff is beyond welcoming. Having George (service dog) there is an added bonus too! I would recommend Dr.Melnk to anyone and everyone.

If you're looking for the best dental experience of your life, look no further!! I have been seeing Dr. Melnyk for years now and she is absolutely amazing! Her demeanor is so calm, which helps to ease any nerves. She is so professional and very intelligent. I trust any recommendations she gives, as I know she recommends treatments that I truly need. She uses state of the art equipment and seems to constantly strive to better herself and her office. I am lucky to have found someone as amazing as Dr. Melnyk. Her staff is also very attentive and helpful. They seem to accept most dental insurance plans- which is great. Keep it up Dr. Melnyk and keep it up Smileworks Center team!
