Dr. Arnold wasn't there the day that I came for my initial appointment. I didn't get any prior notice that I wouldn't be seeing him, but the doctor that I did end up seeing was so wonderful that I can't hold a grudge. She was professional and took excellent care of my teeth.

A descendant of three generations of health professionals (his grandfather was one of the first African American dentists in the South), Dr. Arnold never considered any other occupation. He grew up "hanging around the dental office," watching his grandfather work while discussing community politics. His father was a general medical practitioner in Detroit, Michigan.
According to Dr. Arnold, "In my practice, one of my primary goals is to eliminate the fear patients have toward dentistry and to present the discipline in a fun and enjoyable way. Dr. Happy Tooth is my way of presenting the issue of dentistry to kids in a non-threatening environment. It also presents dental hygiene as a pleasant learning experience."
Dr. Arnold attended the same college as his parents, Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee and went on to Meharry Medical College, the alma mater for his father and grandfather. Good fortune was with him when he was accepted into San Francisco’s Mt. Zion residency program in 1972. Mt. Zion has one of the leading residency programs for dentists in the country and only accepts three graduates per year.
Dr. Arnold made a name for himself in the Bay Area when, in 1974, he teamed up with Dr. Collins, author of Your Teeth, a handbook on personal dental care, and Dr. William Pitman, the first African American dentist to open a practice in the East Bay in 1930. Within a year, Dr. Arnold had over 100 patients of his own. Today, Dr. Arnold, and his wife and dental practice partner, Dr. Wendi Wilson have over 3,000 loyal and "happy" patients.
Dr. Arnold is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, on the hospital staff at Mt. Zion, Herrick and Alta Bates, and is a member of both the National Dental Association and the Berkeley Dental Association.

The whole crew here is just great, and my normal check-up/cleaning procedure was painless. Doctor Silvia cleans teeth like a brain surgeon. Not to mention they actually fill in your information from Zocdoc, making the check-in refreshingly speedy. I'm almost looking forward to getting my cavities filled in a few weeks...

Exceptional visit. Convenient location, promptly greeted by front office staff, and quickly seen by the dental assistant. Dr. Arnold was great; explained what he was going to do, and was efficient in going through the process. He highlighted the positives, then focused on the areas of potential concern. He suggested a follow-up visit, and I was on my way.
I couldn't have asked for a better visit.

I arrived 30 minutes early as soon as I electronically signed some forms for check in I was called right away. I was seen by Dr. Wilson she was awesome I really enjoyed coming there. The whole staff was super pleasant. Even though I was not seen by Dr. Arnold he had a smile on his face from the time I got there till I walked out the door. Dr Arnold was fantastic and his hygienist Laura was great as well. best dental appointment ever. my only complaint is that they did not have the forms I filled out online so I had to fill out more when I showed up which was kind of annoying but they were great nonetheless.

This is the best dentistry clinic I've ever been to, people are nice, they do a great, clean and fast job and they help you out with everything you need to know. I hate going to the dentist but this was actually pleasant (and I got my wisdom tooth removed and all)
