Dr. Thomas Williams comes from a family of committed dental professionals. Dr. Williams began private practice in Northwest Washington with his father, the late Dr. Ernest V. Williams. He served as a clinical instructor at Georgetown University for nine years while he established a private practice at his current location. His brother, Dr. Richard Williams a 1984 graduate of Georgetown University, also entered the dental profession as an Oral & Maxillofacial specialist. Truly dedicated to the advancement of dentistry, Dr. Williams has served as president of the District of Columbia Dental Society and is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA). He has been a member of the House of Delegates to the ADA and served on the Professional standards Committee for Peer Review, which deals the ADA Code of Ethics. Dr. Williams has been recognized as a top dentist in Washingtonian Magazine since 2011.
Dr. Williams has developed an environment that creates a positive experience for all of his patients. Coming from a family of dentists he understands that it takes time to develop a relationship with his patients. From the first visit he and his staff take the time to understand what your expectations are from your dentist.
When you first arrive, unless you have an emergency, Dr. Williams will talk to you so that he can understand you, your dental concerns, your long-term goals and objectives. Dr. Williams calls this time with his new patients the preclinical interview. He will allow you to interview him and his staff. It is an important decision in choosing a dentist for you and your family. Dr. Williams gives you the opportunity to ask questions that are important to you.
He and his staff will help you maintain your teeth for a lifetime through treatment and prevention of decay, gum disease and a balanced bite. When these three areas of disease are addressed the esthetic and natural beauty of your mouth will be evident and can be maintained or improved to your desired level of natural beauty.
Dr. Williams feels that you are in control of your oral health and he and his team will do all that is necessary for you to maintain your dental health for a lifetime. He will address your immediate dental needs. If you will allow him, he and his team through a thorough evaluation will develop a long-term treatment plan to reach your optimum dental health resulting in exquisite function, aesthetics and natural beauty.
Dr. Williams cannot over emphasize the importance of your choices and wants to put the control of dental health in your hands. You are the director of your oral health. If you would like, Dr. Williams will work with you to allow you to understand what is available to improve your oral health.

Dr. Williams and his staff pride themselves in staying abreast of the newest procedures to serve your dental health needs better. Dr. Williams has over 800 documented hours of continuing dental education including studies at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne Florida. His staff takes classes throughout the year.

This dentist tried to upsell me on expensive reconstructive dental surgery. I visited an orthodontist for a second opinion, who told me that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my mouth.
He also did a filling that popped out only 3 months after the appointment even though I carefully take care of my teeth.

After a negative experience with a previous dentist in Bethesda that left me with vertigo I wanted to find a new dentist located in DC. Dr. Williams profile came highly recommended and I agree! As a new patient, Dr. Williams sat down to talk and get to know me before proceeding to the actual dental work. There is definitely a focus put on the patient's interests. In the end it is still a dentist appointment and not particularly enjoyable, but it went as smoothly as I could expect.
