I earned my dental degree from the University of Washington and have been practicing in this North Seattle neighborhood since 1999. Over the years, I have enjoyed the privilege of treating entire families with members of all ages-- many of whom have been with us since we first opened our doors. With my patients, I embrace a partnership in achieving optimum dental health and comfort.
Prior to becoming a dentist, I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from San Jose State University in California and my Master's Degree from University of Idaho. I worked as an engineer for a large technology development company while continuing my passion for learning. Once I got a taste of the biological sciences, I was hooked. With the encouragement of my family, I made the decision to change careers and devote myself to dentistry. I am so thankful for the support of my family and friends because I love the practice of dentistry, especially the direct contact with all my wonderful patients.

I've never had a worst dental cleaning. First, the dentist took some x-rays, but they didn't come out right so had to do it several times (maybe 8-10) before she got it working. I can understand that--sometimes those x-rays are hard to get right. However, this was just the beginning.
When she started the actual cleaning, she kept the suction device on the inner part of my cheek which, after a while, actually hurts quite a bit. When she was polishing my lower front teeth, she didn't bother to actually pull down my lower lip...she just used the polisher (spinning at 100 cycles a second) to move them down--which also hurt a ton.
To top it off, at one point she dropped the suction device, picked it up from the floor, and didn't bother to sanitize it in anyway.
Given how many dentists there are in this area, I would highly encourage you to visit another one.

Dr. Smith and her entire staff were extremely professional and friendly. I really appreciated how the receptionist offered to review my dental insurance coverage and tailored my appointment to reflect my benefits. This was the first time in my 28 years of going to the dentist where the actual dentist cleaned my teeth. Dr. Smith reviewed my xrays then cleaned my teeth making sure to explain what/why she was doing what she was doing and then followed up when I was all finished to make sure I didn't have any additional questions. She was absolutely amazing!

The staff are warm and friendly, and the doctor is talented, knowledgeable, and active. I was impressed that the doctor not only examined my teeth and gums, but conducted some of the cleaning. Even more, she is very much a teacher/mentor to her staff. Throughout the cleaning and examination, she spoke to my hygienist very much in a teacher to student / colleague sort of manner. Very pleasant experience, and my hygienist was delightful. Will book all future dental appointments here.
