I have severe dental anxiety. I cried a bit as this was my first dental exam in years. The staff was incredibly patient with me...that had to be a challenge. A big part of my anxiety stems from the shame from being so anxious that I let my dental health fall to the wayside. He only used positive language, which was really helpful. He was really reassuring. He explained everything very clearly and his dental assistant gave me a few minutes to gather my nerves. She also gave me water, some Kleenex and plenty of kind words. I can’t lie and say I’m excited to go back, but I do feel reassured that I will be in competent and understanding hands. I highly recommend.

Dr Whittemore has exceptionally talented hands and made the gum examination less painful than I have ever experienced. They also dosed the anesthetics perfectly and were reasonably quick. An altogether positive experience.

Will is proud to be an Oregonian born and raised here. He is excited to be practicing in Sellwood, not far from where he first lived after graduating from OHSU in 2002. Dr. Whittemore attended Whitman College in Walla Walla for his undergraduate training, graduating with a degree in Biology. Will and his wife Mimi, who is also a dentist, have always loved the Sellwood neighborhood and are thrilled to be providing family dental care here.
Dr. Whittemore is committed to providing caring and comprehensive dental care for you and your family. He participates in many hours of continuing education each year to ensure you're getting the most advanced dental care available. His priority is to provide this in a manner that focuses on each patient's individual needs in a preventative and compassionate manner.

I was seen right away, everyone was very friendly. It was clean and bright and cheerful, and the office seemed to be taking appropriate precautions for COVID-19. The doctor was great, and the staff were transparent about pricing and recommending procedures, which I really appreciated. Would recommend, especially to anyone in the neighborhood!

Bailey was the assistant and, with the doctor taking the helm, the team of two took care of two cavities in short order. I am continually amzed how denistry has changed sinc a youth in the early 50"s. It is almost pleasant! At Whittemore, they do thier best to achieve that! Thank you, team Dr. Bill and Bailey!

I had what I felt my something less than normal going on in my gum. I left a recording on their urgent care line and Doctor Whittemore called me back that evening. He asked a few questions and then made an appointment for me.
I was very happy with the quick response and appointment time. They are taking all precautions to keep their patients and themselves safe by as they reopen during this lingering pandemic.

Everybody is always great at this place. Dr. Whittemore did an outstanding job on replacing my filling. A few hours afterward I could not tell any work was even done.

Angie (who took my x-rays, Ariel (who cleaned my teeth), and Brittany (who checked me in, explained insurance things, and helped me formulate a financial plan for further treatment) were all professional, gentle, friendly, and encouraging. Ariel was the friendliest and most comforting hygienist I've ever had. She constantly made sure that I was not experiencing any pain or discomfort and provided headphones so I could watch Netflix! As someone who has had dentist anxiety in the past, this place really knows how to put you at ease. Love it!

Dr. Whittemore's staff was courteous and friendly and they truly made me feel welcome in their office. Their kindness went well beyond what is required of them and it was an absolute pleasure to make their acquaintance. Moreover, Dr. Whittemore’s professionalism in his evaluation of my dental situation was articulated in a straightforward and informative manner, that was designed for me to make an educated decision.
I have nothing but high praise for the way Dr. Whittemore and his staff are running their business, and if anyone is looking for a new dentist, it would be foolish to not consider visiting their facility for an evaluation.

I showed up late and on the wrong day, but they happily got me in with 0 min wait time. Great facility and staff. Front desk was very helpful and displayed confidence, dental assistant was very friendly, genuine and observant, dentist was polite and very informative. The hygienist (Ariel) seems to truly know her craft and take it seriously. I got the vibe that she is passionate about it, which is not easy to find (in my experience). I feel like she took really good care of my gums, and did her best to make my experience comfortable (while still thoroughly cleaning).

I had a not so great experience at my last dentist, when I came in yesterday with concerns about my previous fillings being sort of incomplete, Dr. Whittemore saw the issues right away without me noting any details. He is very personable and experienced! He has great bedside manners and was very patient. I’m thankful he was the one doing my cleaning for my first ever appointment here, it allowed me to get to know him before he fixes my fillings next week. I highly recommend him!

I went in to have some cavities filled. I've had very bad experiences in the past with doctors not giving me the Novacain correctly, meaning I was in extreme pain during the procedure. I expressed this concern to Dr. Whittemore who took it very seriously. He checked in with me several times during the procedure, and even took the time to explain to me why I most likely had a poor experience in the past. At one point I did feel the drill, and he promptly stopped, applied more Novacain, and proceeded with no more pain.
It was honestly as good of an experience as one could expect from having a cavity filled.

I hadn't seen a dentist in over five years, so I was really nervous about having a routine checkup. Dr. Whittemore and his staff were really awesome. The entire experience was pleasant. The waiting room was nice, the front desk was helpful and informative. The hygienist who cleaned my teeth and took x rays was friendly and answered all my questions in a really straightforward, thoughtful way. When Dr. Whittemore went over my x rays and chatted with me about my teeth he was brief, but answered all my questions. I'll definitely be using their practice as my go to from now on.

I had an excellent cleaning. I don't necessarily look forward to getting my filling done next week (because who likes fillings??) but I am much more relieved knowing it will be done by Dr. Whittemore and his staff. I have already recommended this office to my girlfriend, and I will continue to recommend their practice to other friends as well. 5/5. Excellent customer service too.
