Dr. Marilia Ryan was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. She attended the University of Notre Dame where she received a Bachelor of Science. Moving East, Dr. Ryan completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine while also obtaining a Master of Arts in Science and Dental Education at the Columbia University Teachers College.
At Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, Dr. Ryan graduated top of her class with the highest honors and distinctions from multiple departments and was inducted into the renowned international dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). After dental school, Dr. Ryan moved to Los Angeles where she completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). At UCLA, Dr. Ryan gained further training on the treatment of complex and medically-compromised patients, requiring full-mouth rehabilitation and implant therapy.
Dr. Ryan is described by her patients as caring, compassionate, and extremely meticulous as she strives to provide nothing short of excellent care to all her patients. With her background in teaching, Dr. Ryan values patient communication, education, and preventive dentistry. She strongly believes that it is the dentist’s duty to educate patients on their oral health status and help them make an informed decision regarding the proper treatment options available.
Dr. Ryan speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish fluently. Outside of the office, she enjoys drawing, cooking, traveling, and exploring LA. Dr. Ryan is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Western Los Angeles Dental Society and stays current with the latest advancements in the field through continuing education courses and scientific literature.
