Dr Flug is thorough and clearly very knowledgeable in his area of specialty. His staff is nice, his office is acceptable (but it is clear they are not going for fancy which is fine), and wait time was minimal.
Like some past reviewers I would say the only area I see Dr Flug might be lacking in is bedside manner. It didn’t bother me much and I would take knowledgeable over small talk any day, but it would’ve been nice to know that he was putting in numbing drops prior to doing it and me finding out afterwards (regardless of it wearing off in 5 minutes).
If you ask the questions he will give the answers. He does his job and then moves on. If you need more you might be better looking elsewhere.

He is a graduate of the Hahnemann Medical College and did an ophthalmology residency at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center. He is currently on the teaching staff of the North Shore University- Long Island Jewish Medical Center and on staff at Flushing Hospital and the renowned Mackool Eye Institute. He seems like a good doctor but I was incredibly uncomfortable with how much he was touching me to adjust my eye position. On my 40 plus years of going to eye doctors, I’ve never been manhandled as much. At one point, instead of asking me to adjust my head, he put his hands on my head and tried to adjust me. I pulled back and I told him that I could adjust my head and did so. It was really off putting - especially in this time of the Covid19 pandemic. Also he sanitized his hands but did not wear gloves.
Do not go to this doctor if you do not like being touched skin to skin by a doctor. I’ve been to several doctors in the past year and none touched me without wearing gloves.
Also there was another patient in the office who was coughing the while time she was there. Her partner was not wearing a mask when he entered the office too (though put one on).

I made an appointment with Dr. Flug, because over the weekend, I noticed a small white bump around the rim of my left eye. This problem was causing my eyelid to become slightly red and inflamed and it also was causing some mild discomfort in my eye. Dr. Flug explained to me that my problem was called a sty, and that it was not serious. It was starting to resolve on its own, and he recommended applying warm compresses to treat it. He also noticed that in both eyes, I am experiencing mild dry eyes, so he gave me a sample of over-the-counter eye drops. These drops normally are used by contact lens wearers. Although I do not use contact lenses, Dr. Flug knew these drops would be right for me. When I instilled these drops in my eyes, they felt very soothing and they provided me with instant relief.
Dr. Flug, his assistant, Mark, and his receptionist, Daisy are lovely people. I highly recommend this practice to anyone who is in search of an ophthalmologist who can provide emergency care.

I was an hour late but they were able to work around that for me. Dr. Flug and his staff are totally professional and obviously care about their patients. Definitely an excellent ophthalmologist for the whole family!

I go to Dr. David Flug for years. He is a very thoughtful and knowledgeable professional. His office is never crowded and you don't have to wait for a long time (big plus for me!). Under the current circumstances, the office follows the social distancing order. I was taken in right away and felt rather safe.

when I got there, after filling out the new patient paperwork, I was seen right away. Dr. Flug seems like a no nonsense type of doctor and I like that. I was in and out (I went for general eye checkup) and he checked optic nerve, vision etc and gave me a clean bill of health with the exception that my glasses and contact prescriptions were very off.
I appreciate him answering all my amateurish questions and even gave me some of his opinions on stuff I asked.
He wasn’t the warm and fuzzy type of doctor but i would definitely recommend to someone who was looking for an ophthalmologist.

It was early in the morning when I arrived so the waiting area was a little since the window AC units are turned off overnight. Other than that the waiting room is comfortable. The receptionist was extremely welcoming and cordial. Paperwork was minimal and easy to complete and I was given the required HIPPA disclosure. I first met with Dr Flug’s assistant who checked the prescription of my glasses and gave me a vision test. Dr. Flug then met with me. I explained the reason I was there and asked him not to dilate my pupils since I had to immediately drive to work. Dr. Flug checked my eye and reassured me that things seemed fine but also cautioned me that by not dilating my pupils he was limited in what he could observe. He suggested that I might consider using prescription drops for a few days, but there was no pressure to accept a prescription. I accepted it and Dr Flug gave me a Paper showing the price that the medication was available for to compare with what my pharmacy was charging. He also gave me a complimentary bottle of lubricant eye drops. The receptionist completed the visit by taking my co-pay and giving me a receipt and a paper indicating what the doctor had prescribed for my reference. Overall, I found Dr Flug to be very businesslike. He seems to approach his patients by asking why they are seeing him and then using his expertise to examine and recommend solutions. I would see him again.

Although very thorough in his examination, he gave little to no information and he seemed rushed.
I didn't get a sense of reassurance as a first time patient. I had to pry for answers. Although I need a procedure done, I have decided to get a second opinion and go with a doctor who is going to care and take the time.
