PEDIATRIC (Newborn-21yrs) APPOINTMENTS ONLY - Dr. Cheema is Board Certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the founder of American Kids Care, PC located in the heart of Annandale Virginia providing Pediatric services from Newborn till the age of 21 years. Dr. Cheema has been in practicing medicine for more than a decade and has passion for Pediatrics and the love of working with children of all ages as a father of two girls.
Dr. Cheema is affiliated with Inova Fairfax Hospital and is a member of the Children's National Health Network and the Children’s IQ Network of the Children’s National Medical Center of Washington DC.
Dr. Cheema started his career in Internal Medicine and Dermatology but then decided after completing his residency at the University of Florida, Gainesville to do what he loved most “working with children”. According to Dr. Cheema the smiles, hugs, and the energy from children makes every day special and he feels blessed to have the best job in the world bringing back a smile to a sick child.
At American Kids Care, caring for children is our passion. We take pride being a culturally competent practice as Dr. Cheema has worked and travelled extensively to many parts of the world bringing back rich and diverse experiences that enables him to better communicate and understand his ethnic patients. We have a convenient location for easy access to all patients and families. Our office staff is bilingual, able to communicate with families whose primary language is not English. We take pride in being a “Green paperless practice”. Almost all our records, prescriptions, lab orders are electronically transmitted and stored making us more efficient.

Our visit was very prompt and on time. We are very new to this area and having a bit of trouble finding a proper medical service.
And when our little daughter got sick, we got really worried cause we had never been to a doctor here. But Dr. Abdussalam Cheema (as his name it states) really gave us a peace of mind.

Dr. Cheema is a wonderful doctor. He explains everything to you, and he explains it in a manner that you can understand. Love him, he's amazing, I wouldn't change my child's doctor for anything. In fact he was working in Alexandria at a clinic and when i found out he had left i searched for him and followed him to where he is now. Like i said the best doctor you can have. Hope hes in business for many years, because I still have a 9 year old.

Dr. Cheema's practice is well-run, on time, and professional from front-desk greeting to farewell.
Dr. Cheema, as well, is thorough and professional. He goes through symptoms, moves through the physical exam, and is an excellent diagnostician. He is not going to over-medicate, or medicate where it isn't necessary. It's hard to see your baby suffer through symptoms, and it's your instinct to want relief from them immediately, but not always the best route to med-up. In our case, we needed antibiotics to fight an illness and severe cough lasting over seven days. I feel confident knowing that Dr. Cheema went conservative (yet efficient) on med dosage. This was our first visit with him. I had a few other doctors I'd planned on seeing before choosing our next Pediatrician, but feel confident enough to end my search here, based on Dr. Cheema's excellent reviews, friendly and efficient practice, the doctor's diagnostic skills, trust in his therapeutic approach, kid-friendly manner, and excellent communication.

Other than the insanely unacceptable wait, Dr. Cheema was his usual friendly, kind and awesome self! His staff are equally pleasant and helpful. This is the first time A doctor's office has completed a school entrance physical form for me on the spot. Usually, they'll have you come back or try to charge a fee. I was very impressed.
