Professional Statement

Adam was born in the small town of Grand Island, Nebraska and raised in suburban Omaha, Nebraska. His time in there instilled a strong sense of community, service, and hard work ethic. His parents are both educators by training and he comes from a long line of clergy. His mentors impressed upon him the importance of lifelong learning, balancing family and work, and caring for the whole person. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Health Administration and Policy at Creighton University, a Jesuit school in Omaha, Nebraska. While in college he received many accolades, including being selected as the school-wide orientation director for the Honors College, for the Youth Leadership Council, and for Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership fraternity. After graduating from college, he elected to fore-go medical school to pursue a Masters in Hospital Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio. It was there that he met his wife, Christen (Godwin). Together they have two children, Mia and Ethan, and a dog, Bailey.

Upon completion of his hospital administration training with an administrative internship at Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, Adam went on to pursue his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He finished first in his class and was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honors medical fraternity. Adam was selected by the University of Florida for residency training in Orthopedics. While there, he was part of the University of Florida athletic team physicians responsible for the musculoskeletal and spine care of all University of Florida athletes. He was the only Orthopedic resident in the United States selected his year as a resident representative for the Association of American Medical Colleges, which is the governing organization for all medical schools. He also served on the academic leadership committee for the American Orthopaedic Association, the invitation-only organization for top leaders in orthopedics in the United States. He was nominated for, and currently serves as, a member of the Emerging Leaders within the same organization. Adam completed his fellowship in Spine Surgery at South Texas Spinal Clinic.

When Adam is not in the operating room or clinic, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and being active in his church.

My husband and I were very satisfied with our visit. Dr. Bruggeman explains everything so we understand and addresses our questions. From our initial consult, the surgery and post op we have felt completely comfortable with everything. We most certainly would refer Dr. Bruggeman to others.
