Dr Pluta was born and raised in Poland. She and her family moved to the United States in 1989. Before coming to the U.S. Dr. Pluta became board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology in Poland. She also became a member of faculty at Warsaw Medical School, she worked as an Attending Physician at the Pediatric Gastroenterology Department between 1981-1989. At that time, the area of her special interest were in GI disorders of young infants and malabsorption disorders such as (Celiac Disease, CF, and Food Intolerances). She completed her PhD program at Warsaw Medical Academy in 1989, and published her theses on Vitamin D deficiency and Vitamin D metabolism in perinatal period. Since coming to the United States, Dr. Pluta has repeated a full training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology . She started her training at the NIH, then at Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC, and eventually at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. This has lead to Board Certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterolgy by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1996 and 2003. After finishing her training in the USA, she initially worked as a Pediatric Hospitalist at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD from 1996-1999, afterwards she took a position of Attending Physician at the Pediatric Gastroenterology Division of Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC, were she has been working full time until 2009. Dr Pluta has been practicing Pediatric Gastroenterology for many years. She see's children with gastrointestinal problems from birth to young adulthood and she is performing endoscopic procedures. Besides her clinical work at her Private Practice Dr. Pluta has been still involved in teaching of medical students and fellows at Georgetown University
