Dr. Aimee Schimizzi was born in Detroit, Michigan. As a child, her family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina, where she completed middle and high school. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry after three years of study. She then attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. Schimizzi then furthered her studies at the University of California San Diego in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery. There she completed a year of Orthopaedic Research in addition to a clinical residency. After graduating from residency, she completed a year of subspecialty training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the CV. Starr Hand Surgery Center at the St. Luke's-Roosevelt/ Columbia Hospital System in New York City.
After completion of her training, Dr. Schimizzi joined Wake Orthopaedics in Raleigh, North Carolina, and worked in a level I trauma center treating patients with complex upper extremity trauma injuries. She then spent time in Phoenix, Arizona, also specializing in complex injuries of the upper extremity. After several years spent away from her beloved state of training, Dr. Schimizzi relocated back to California and settled in the Bay area where she continues her pursuit to help patients with both common and complex upper extremity trauma, ailments, and arthritis.
Dr. Schimizzi is a Board Certified Orthopaedic surgeon dedicated to providing experienced and advanced orthopaedic care for upper extremity problems.
